Most tvs in usa are not compatible in nepal in terms of power And Broadcast protocol. Also you will be paying good custom tax at TIA about 500 rs per inch. My recommendation is buying from nepal itself is good option.

@Awayfromhome.. Thank you, but i heard nepal ma ta atti mahango chha re ni ta compared to India. I dont know since i havent been for a while. I understand the broadcast protocal is different and i have to buy some kind of invertor or whatever they call it is but if it is really pain in @$$ taking it may be i should consider buying in Nepal itself.

i was in your shoes couple of months back. tv kinera ready pari sakya thein but i didnt have the guts to take a chance. even though, north american tvs are not compatible in nepal but still you can get a ntsc to pal converter and a good voltage converter, but really good ntsc/pal coverters will cost you around 400-500 or more. however you can get cheap ones around 100 dollars. but i thought , yetro dukha garera tv lagyo , nepal ma picture ramro aena bhane? So, I decided not to. not tryin to jynx you or anything, just sharing my thoughts. Economically, its a very wise decision though. Good luck

Hand carry ma haalera lagna mile, I'd do it. Else, it's just not worth the hassle. You'll also draw a lot of unwanted attention. Imagine stepping outside the airport with a 55" tv.
Best, buy it in Nepal by paying some extra sum.

What is this about the power?. Are not electrical equipments these days made that they can be used all over the world?. All one would need would be the adapter so as plugging on the wall is possible. Correct me if i am wrong.

You don't need to worry about taking 2 phones. I've heard of people taking 4-5 iphones and some laptops and tablets - all in the same trip.
If you're going via Delhi, you should totally forget taking a TV - you might end up w/o dhoti/topi (dhoti na topi).
