Most of the lottery winners r the ones who played lottery pool, coworkers comboning money n buying lots of tickets at one time. So i m thinking if i purchase like 80 dollars worth of Mega n Powerball for each draw, may be someday I will hit the jackpot? What u say?

The probability of someone hitting the jackpot (powerball or mega) is 1 in 180 million or so kyare. Spending 80 bucks will only marginally increase your probability.

That said, I won't at all be surprised if you spent 80 bucks to match your IQ score of 80 in hopes of winning it big! 

1) Actually the odds much less than 180 million because numbers like 1, 2,3 4, 5, 6  OR 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 OR 5, 10, 15 , 20, 25, 30, etc never really come even the probability is there. I would say that would half it to like 90 million. Still makes it very hard though.

2) The best way to win lottery is not to play in USA but play in countries like Singapore or Australia where they have what is called system bets. Lets say there are 45 numbers, you can play up to system 20 (20 numbers) but that may cost you maybe 25K. So 25 people could play it by giving 1k each, once a month that would be 12K in a year for each. Chances are almost 50%. The good thing about system bets is that you get paid for every combination that can be made out of those 20 numbers with the numbers that came out, This is BIG gambling though. I thought about this but hard to make 25 people to do it for a year.

the higher the number of tickets you buy the better chance of winning lottery but there's no telling when you might be winning it, you might not win even in a million years or you might just win it tomorrow.

 Freedom2012, is it safe to assume that you weren't really good in maths? Coughing up 80 bucks instead of a buck will only marginally increase your chances of winning the jackpot. 

What makes you say that?. In fact i am saying do not play in USA and spend money even 1000 bucks because the odds of winning is really small. 

The odds of winning greater in Australia and Singapore with system bets. There are no system bets in USA. Check up all lottery numbers all over the world, numbers have random order and no pattern, so all sets of numbers with a pattern in them or sequence can be discarded in the probability.  

Here is what i meant by system entries. Someone above said spent 200 bucks. In Australia you could get 10 or 11 numbers out of 45, thus increasing your chances.
