The senate judiciary commitee passed it n is on the Senate, in one month it will be decided. Chances r very high, it will be the first biggest inmigration overhaul after 1986. About the spouses, i don't think wetbacks can bring back their families until n unless they get Citizenship which is 13 yrs plus extra yrs no matter they get travel card to visit their homecountry.

Are u LPR already? Or are u waiting for LPR after immigration reform? Your question is not accurate. Anyways if u have LPR already u can apply for her gc only after u get citizenship i believe. If u r out of status n hoping for LPR after immigration reform, this immigration reform won't give u GC for at least yrs. only u can travel back n forth. This reform hasn't mentioned abt spouses yet. After 13 yrs apply citizenship n get approved n apply for spouse. I m not a lawyer so i might be wrong, if so I apologize.

Yeah she has to wait n it can take more than 2.5 yrs in some cases. Immigration reform is for illegal aliens n those who overstayed their visas. There is nothing for F1. Even due to this reform STEM act can be in jeopardy n H1b could be in dire strait too as only few H1 might be available after this as 11 millions illegal immigrant is a lot.

i came up with this google so was wondering
CHANGES TO FUTURE IMMIGRATION & FAMILY VISAS
The bill makes a number of major changes to the legal immigration system. It would create a new “merit-based” system, eliminate the substantial backlogs that have kept families apart for decades, but also restrict or eliminate some important immigration categories. NILC is concerned that the legislation caps the adult-children category at those under 31 and eliminates the sibling category. In addition, the bill’s provisions would continue to separate LGBTQ (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer) couples by not providing that same-sex couples may petition to immigrate their spouses.
“Immediate Relatives,” V & W Visas, Diversity Visas
Spouses and minor children of LPRs are “immediate relatives.” Spouses and minor children of LPRs will be able to obtain visas as “immediate relatives,” and they will be able to bring with them derivative children and spouses. There will be no numerical cap for them, so they will be able to reunite with their family members in the U.S. without delay.
New family “V” visa. The bill creates a new nonimmigrant V visa for people with approved family-based immigration petitions, so they may work and live in the U.S. with lawful status while waiting for their green card.
New “W” Nonimmigrant Visas. The bill would create a visa program for low-wage workers who work for registered employers in an occupation with labor shortages for 3 years with the ability to renew for an additional 3 years. W visa–holders would have the ability to
IS THIS ALL FOR ONLY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OR GONNA APPLY FOR ALL?

Reform for fkn illegals, its hard for f1s in this country. Once the immigration law passes, f1s are better off going to canada or australia. Offcampus kaam garna impossible huna sakchha as, there will be stricter enforcement. US has such a shitty policy towards educated folks(I mean you can get h1s n all, but takes few years to several years to get gc) ,but illegals can get all the medical benefit..How long does it take for a person with masters stem to get gc under eb ?

It is wise to file any case with USCIS before this stupid immigration bill gonna pass in Congress.
Most attorneys already suggested that this bill will create mass applications and can create gridlock and chaos within USCIS.
And, all cases filed before Immigratin reform will be done first and fastly to deal with this new PLR applications.
If you wait till 2014, it seems you'll be filing after 11 millions PLR applications.
Remember, looking at the upper yellow higlights, they said "reunite with family members in the US without delay"..that means while the case is pendig they can come and join family in US. That doesn't mean they'll get Green Card right away. Application process for 11 millions and other regular applications at that time will follow same way.
So its your choice to add your application with 11 million or without 11 million. Its your call.
Good luck!!

lol sexy in sari, you are saying as if ppl loveeeee to wait and wait and finally file the case just for the heck of it. no immigrant will wait one extra day if they qualify to file a case. problem is how you qualify. you can't just file a case without valid reason and it takes years to figure out that channel.

Chadke i dunno where u got this link. Any link? I ve never heard them mentioning abt spouses. Dern so much amnesty for wetbacks.? Yup the immigration reform is only for illegals n out of status students with expired visa ( out of status with valid visa has to go back n apply college). If immigration reform passes f1 students will have the hardest toll from it as everywhere everify checking n no one would be allowed to work without work permit.

@pshrestha78: As far as I understand, the person who is asking for suggestion is LPR and he wants to marry F1 on or around
January 2014. Shrestha-ji, I don't understand what he has to qualify to file a case. He just need to get married and file it, and uprade a
case once he becomes US citizen. But at around 2014 while he files for his case, he files under his GC status, which will follow after
the 11 million PLR cases, no doubt, it will take longer to response from USCIS for his case compare to the person who is filing under
GC status right now.
@ gorikopoi, It seems you're confuse with LPR. LPR is a Lawful permanent Resident, who has Green Card.
After immigration reform, illegals will get RPI..which is Registered Provisional Immigrant Status..
