 you can also volunteer 20 hours a week (unpaid) positions in your field. I did that on mine for 2 months and saved those unemployment days.

 ho! it is supposed to be in your field (or somehwat related). i think it depends on the discretion of your school official who is designated to put the OPT info online for USCIS.

 I was in your shoes few years ago. What I did was I informed USCIS coordinator in my school saying that I have no job at the momemt but have been volunteering for a professor (though I was not volunteering). I gave the name of my  undergraduate research advisor. I did not even inform my research advisor. After couple of days, the USCIS coordinator replied me saying that he informed the USCIS about the situation and it is under control now.
Things were definitely tougher during that time and it is hard to find the job within 90 days. Hence I heard that USCIS was not strict in this kind of matter. I am not sure about this kind of "halla' these days but I have not heard of anybody being sacked because of 90+ days unemployment on OPT.

  I was in your situation last year. Mero OPT pako 120 days bhaisakeko thyo maile employment letter pathako thiena. Mile 120 th day ma euta store ma kaam gareko milaera letter lekhe ani kaam payeko data chai 90 days bhitra ko rakhidie and it worked later check garda you are OK bhanera bhanyo college le. USCIS are not so hard on this rule.....
   And timro OPT expire bhako 60 days grace period dincha to be admitted in a school. Hami lai OPT card dida they say that we are supposed to get enrolled to a new school before OPT card expires ACTUALLY you have 60 days grace period after your OPT expires to get enrolled and be in status...

 AND if you could not find any job then go to any Nepalese organization and get a letter that you are doing any social service work atleast 20 hours a week. It can be any social work it does not matter with your major.
