hello everyone, i have been member of sajha for a while and i am regular reader of kurakani and i love going through it,i really like and appreciate the suggestions and help that we can gain from these kurakanis. Today i have one query and i hope i will get a very good suggestion for my query,I am a 31 years old male currently living in Europe from last 9 years my query is that my girlfriend has american green card and we are planning to get married and settle in USA, the thing i would like to know is what is the procedure for this? should she come here where i live and we get married and file for visa or is it better to do all the procedures from Nepal? how long before i can get the visa? what are the documents the consulate asks for? does study play any factor in this? my girlfriend is a post graduate whereas i could never finish my graduation, please do suggest me what steps should i take forward? and my girlfriend just got the green card this january, if you guys need more info i will write back.

It doesnt matter where you get married. Get married first, ask your spouse to file i-130 for you when she gets back to the States. It takes about 6 months to get i-130 approved. Luckily, the applications are only backlogged for a few months for gc holder's spouses. After i-130 approved, it takes about 4 months to complete the rest of the process. You will be in the US within a year if there wont be backlogs. All d best!
