Yes the hoardings are up. The sponsors are in. The girls have already sent in their forms. Oh well I heard the final contestants are also selected. I am talking about Miss Nepal 2014. I know with all these other contests mushrooming up every day in Nepal, it’s difficult to keep track of who won which one and when.

The other day, I came across a lady, who has apparently won Miss Nurse. OKK!!! Now what next? Miss Cleaner, Mr. Police…..No offence but this is really getting out of hands. The funny part is there is no concerned authority that monitors these businesses in Nepal. I don’t know about other countries but here, there is no such provision.

Now coming back to Miss Nepal, which is still the most talked and respected beauty pageant, few days ago some ex Miss Nepal posted few pictures of the 2014 participants. I agree that the participants are becoming very competitive when it comes to the appearances, very good height and good maintained figure. I won’t bet a dime on the intellect part. Honestly I somewhere still feel they need to work on it a lot more.

I saw a posting couple of days back in Sajha, that Aastha Pokharel is also participating this year. I thought it was just a rumor. But yesterday I stalked her Facebook page and it is confirmed. Now from here my amusement starts.

First it was Malina Joshi. When all the attention gone down for her after she completed her reign as Miss Nepal, she participated for Miss Asia Pacific. She stated that she wanted to get an international title, which she was unable to get while participating in Miss World. There were a lot of scandals and controversies that she snapped at the Chairman of Hidden Treasures, when he tried to stop her from using the crown of Miss Nepal for her promotion at Miss Asia Pacific. The worse was the statement by Miss Joshi on his facebook wall. For me it was extremely immature and dim-witted.

Now it is Miss Asian’s Next Top Model, Aastha Pokharel. After such fame she got after being on international contest and all the media coverage, and of course her dramatic break up with her then pilot bf, why Miss Nepal?? I think this is a platform for newbie and amateurs. She has been on the scene for so long and has established herself as a professionally successful model. I guess it is very important for these girls to have the attention on them all the time and when they lose it, they panic and they feel insecure. They are more vulnerable than any normal girl. I could be wrong but that is what I feel when I come across them.

Let us see where she will land, when the pageant happens. The funny part is, if she wins, her experience of so many years will be blamed to over shadow the other girls, and if she loses, she will be embarrassed to get beaten by the rookies. The hindi proverb should sum up everything“ Ek taraf khai, toh dusri taraf kuwa”

*Malina Joshi is Miss Nepal 2011 and represented Nepal in Miss World that same year, and in 2013-14 she further participated in Miss Asia Pacific with a lot of controversies.
* Mr Gopal Kakshyapati is the chairman of Hidden Treasure Nepal, who has been the backbone of Miss Nepal and Miss Teen Nepal. According to him, he just asked Miss Joshi not to use the Miss Nepal crown in her promotional video, since it is the property of Hidden Treasure and it cannot be used for any other pageant.
* Aastha Pokharel is one of a very successful model of Nepal. She has gone to participate in Asian's Next Top Model. A show which give platform to models in international scene. She has been one of the first choices for any fashionshow or modelling assignments.

It's always nice to see new,fresh, raw faces on Miss Nepal rather than established one.
Miss Nepal should be something like discovery. Anyways, who ever the winner is. I hope she manages to shine on Miss World platform.

Well this was new to me, as in Astha running for the pageant Miss Nepal '14.. Well, strange that if a public figure is allowed to participate, well may be they are, but she' already got to a place!! but i doubt she's taking away the title, there are intelligent ladies, unless the group of judges only cares about the figures they see with all those layering of Make up..

We all know how she looks off of makeup, off of those pretty clothes.. Not judging anyone, im just not happy with the fact that she of all ppl is a participant, plus the so called Pilot Friend being my friend, I simply do not like her!

Anyhow lets see how it would goes..

Honestly, off make up, the only girl who looks pretty is Sadikshya Shrestha. Rest prolly I wont even recognize..Aastha looks amazing in the pictures...but sorry to say...you wont even recognize her if you see her walking on the street...i wont even give 4 out of 10....that 4 is also for her height... :)

Id agree :D seeing her in person is a disaster in the making hola, im lucky that my eyes are still intact and didnt hve to face any of such disaster.. Sadikshya Shrestha is indeed pretty :)

BTW her pics comes out good cause the Pilot captured her perfectly on camera and i must say, photographers knows their edits well!!! I personally didnt like her any personal pics, but her brushed up pics clicked my the pros are indeed good!

Though you are correct she looks nothing like top model while on street but same goes for Sadikshya too. And her tote boli irritates the shit out of me.

Being honest like Mancini in this scenario, I must say, Aastha Pokharel: She looks stunning.

Her personal stuff; whether she dumped her bf or vice versa, or how she appears outside in person. Ain't matter. She has a shinning photogenic personality.
From my perspective, she indeed well deserves an international fame in the era of modelling/ fashion. Should I be an organizer of a fashion show event, I would prioritize shinning stunning girl like Astha pokharel over pretty, beautiful or cute girl (Not even Nas's one sided infatuation Priayanka Karki. lol)
