hi Nepali_1

I am also thinking of renewing my Passport. I have been trying to talk to them regarding some queries, but couldn't hold up any one on phone. I have my PP still valid till august 2015. My queries is, whether embassy will still allow me to renew PP which is still valid for next one year?. If anyone happened to know the ans please respond me back.

Thanks in ADV..

@Nepali_1, go to a Fedex location nearby, they will open an account for you. Then you can print return label and send it in a reusable FedEx envelop together with your pp application. You can keep I94 and send the PP only. Send 2"x2" photo, they will cut to correct size for you.

@Nepali8, you can apply for MRP anytime.

You can renew the passport now even if your passport only expires in Aug 2015. This is because the old handwritten PP is being phased out in Nov 2015 and Govt is trying to prevent a mad rush at the end by asking everyone to renew early.

- read the instructions (in nepali) on the website carefully
- 2"x2" photos acceptable, write you full name on the back and put all in a small ziploc bag
- i don't see the need of fedex or ups, USPS with a tracking number (extra for insurance over $50 though) should be good enough

I made passport through Nepali embassy 2 times; one in 2003 and another in 2013 (MRP). Both times I had great experience. All I did was read the instruction, and send everything accordingly. About photo, I got 2 by 2 and cut them with scissor into the required dimension. I used USPS priority mail for sending and return.

The latest one I applied, I sent on Dec 26th 2013 right after Christmas. Thy received it in January 2014. I got my MRP in 3rd week of March 2014. I did not send original copy of Nagarikta.

Solu,

what size of envelope did you use and how to fit the return envelope inside it?

Stylish,
Go to USPS office, and tell them that you want to send by priority mail, and want to send a priority return envelope inside. you have to write your return address on the priority return envelope. The cashier will fold big priority envelope to make it small so that it fits into the priority envelope you are sending. If the cashier does not fold, you can fold it yourself.

The size of envelope was such that an 8" *11 1/2" size paper would fit without any problem.

For return envelope you can choose a size slightly larger than the size of passport, because embassy will send passport only nothing else. So an envelope which fits a passport is good enough.
