The earthquakes have killed thousands and torn down hundreds of temples the houses of the gods. The gods are unable to save their own houses and the lives of innocent people.

The people still find solace in praying to the gods whose existence is questioned by the same event.

To those people, I want to ask, why just you? what makes you special? Why take lives of small children and wreck lives of thousands of people but spare you?

It doesn't make any sense.

If God is the creator of the heaves and earth, why create such a disaster in the first place?

I saw someone in facebook share from indian website that Pashupati was untouched because of the power of lord shiva........and everyone there commented about how great the lord shiva was.......DAMN FOOLS!
all those people are blinded by fear and faith, where logic and science of earthquake seems to make no sense to them at all.
Of course there is no god....not just because lot of children died in this earth quake and corrupt politicians were spared the wrath of the quake but.....praying is same as doing nothing.

Also please go out there and help the person in need
Provide food and shelter until this calamity subsides

Almost sounds like you thought of this question for the first time. You never asked this when you saw the outcries in Haiti? Not when ISIS beheaded 9 Nepalis or recently, the Somalis? Ask why a tiger eats an innocent deer. Ask why a deer eats an innocent grass. Ask why a tiger when it dies, decomposes and feeds the very same grass. Circle of life, you will understand slowly.

No intention of disrespecting any theist out there.....people have right to believe in fairy tale and Santa clause. We are not gonna win any friends if "belief" is what we are fighting for.
I was just trying to say praying is futile..just help each other if you are in Nepal and try to donate few bucks if you can to Recross or some charity organization you can trust.
Actual work helps not satiating ones figment of imagination.

We understand you are trying to be practical. And probably i will be digging debris, then praying. But at the same time, i wont say my mom or other not to pray. Saying that, there are other human aspect like hope and internal strength, which people get in different way. And for some people that is praying. This is probably something we can agree on, at difficult time.
