My father, almost 60 is trying to apply for US citizenship. I htink after getting US citizenship he has to give up his Nepalese citizenship. In that situation, can he maintain his current properties like land/house or buy new properties in Nepal? Also, I am his married son still in nonimmigration status. Once he become US citizen and If he is ready to sponsor for green card for us, does it take really long time like 2-3 or plus years for petition to get approved? Thank you.

America Supports dual citizenship but nepal doesnt. So, the problem might rise from nepal's side. Also, about the green card sponsorship, if you are under 21, its fast.If you are above 21 and unmarried, its slow. IF you are above 21 and unmarried, you might not be qualified. Anyway, check through USCIS. They explain everything. Malai padhnu alchi laagyo. ANyway here is the link. http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-through-family/green-card-family-member-permanent-resident

but doesn't new Nepali constitution grants dual citizenship? or in better words, continuation of the Nepali citizenship? There are thousands of Nepalis who have received citizenships in other countries, specially like in UK and Aus, because unless you're a citizen you have very limited rights and job opportunities for PRs. Never heard Nepali govt confiscating the properties of their ex citizens. They are probably afraid that their kids and themselves will lose their properties first. I think everything is up in the air with the medeshi andolon, after things settle down we will have definite answers on how things work for dual citizens in Nepal.
