If you don't owe money and your spouse is coming within couple of years, just chill until s/he is here. There is no deadline to file tax. The deadline 04/15 is to pay your taxes if you owe.

PS: the info provided is sole from my knowledge and understanding and can not be used as proof on any legal matters against me.

No. IRS does not track individuals via USCIS A# for H4. If you do not have ITIN number, you can be apply at the same time that you file tax return. It might be easy to file your tax and ITIN application with a tax accountant who is also a trained IRS Acceptance Agent. See this website to find Agents near where you live: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Acceptance-Agent-Program.

Just fyi April 15 or 18 or 19 for states, whatever it it is. Those due dates are just for filing taxes. However if you think you owe taxes you should pay it before April 15. The actually deadline to pay your tax liability is Jan 15th for 4th qtr. If you owe any taxes and haven't made any tax payment on or before Jan 15th than a taxpayer is subject to interest which again is not much. I believe it's .5%.

Nepali8, you might wanna apply ITIN. You can do it on your own too.

There are two in India and are you asking your spouse to go there and get ITIN?

I am not sure you will be enjoying Married filing jointly with standard deduction 12,600 but you will get an exemption.
How much money you will be saving filing jointly with ITIN? With ITIN you will be reducing $4000 , personal exemption X tax rate.
4000X10% = $400
4000 X 15%= $600
4000X20% =  $800
Is my statement right?
