Hi Sajha Mitra Haru,
I am looking for information to identify places for a long term. I heard NC or Texas, but do not know where and why. Can some experienced tell where and why it is good either in North Carolina or Texas based on your own experiences or that you heard from someone?
Thanks in advance .

Hmmm Almost everyone that I talk to wants to move to North Carolina these days.
It depends..... what field are you in ? I visited some Raleigh , Cary of NC recently and I also looked at few houses as I am also planning to settle down in North Carolina. There are lots of Nepalese in Charlotte as well. If you're into IT, charlotte maybe a better option (Bank of America , Wells Fargo etc ) . RTP is good for biotech/research field. Good schools and safer neighborhoods in RTP (especially Cary).

Texas gets too hot during summer ! 100+ ? But, lot of Nepalese in Texas (DFW , Austin) . DFW is a bigger city. Charlotte is decent as well but RTP (Raleigh -Durham) not a big city. They're more like a suburban towns.

Hi Frustu,
Dhanyabad for info, and because you visited, How is the cost of housing in Raleigh, vs Cary, NC? Heard only a few months NC is a good place. What else it people find appealing there? How does it compare with cost of housing with TX?

Manuwa, I can share you housing costs based on the places I visited. Cary housing prices has gone up quite significantly in the last 2 years. It used to be cheap but it's not cheap anymore, however, it's still affordable. New construction town homes are anywhere in the range of $300-$450k and single family new homes around > ~$400k.. you can get cheaper for lil older homes. Schools are pretty good for kids.

I don't know much about Texas housing so I can't compare.. from what I've heard Dallas area is getting little expensive but places like Austin would be cheaper than Raleigh - Cary.

Cary, Morrisvile (suburbs of Raleigh-Durham) are flooded with Desis in last 2 years which is one of the reason prices have gone up significantly. Lot of Indians from California , North east are moving to the area because of housing / schools and weather and close proximity to beaches, jobs etc. Also, lot of folks who used to live in Noethern Virginia are moving to the area cuz of expensive housing in Northern Virginia

Frustu, tesko_baje, theDim,
When we are talking about housing price, what kind of house in terms of size and other things do you look into? What are the factors does one have to be considered? Can other home potential/owners also bring this to light?
