Hello guys,

I am in Ktm now and am in the process of my F1 visa renewal. Does any one know if I have to pay SEVIS fee even for a renewal application?

Also, what other documents do you think are important to carry before I go to the interview?

Thanks tons!

SRV44,
It is not required to pay SEVIS fee while renewing you F1 Visa. ( In fact it is not necessary to pay SEVIS fee twice. It is always suggested to contact ICE if you are not sure about it).
That being said it worth knowing your SEVIS status before going to an interview. I am not sure if we can check our SEVIS status ourselves if not your School's international office's DSO definitely can check.

If you have always maintained your student status, the chances that your SEVIS status is in jeopardy is very less (close to 0%). But sometimes because of human error student's SEVIS is terminated. But it does not hurt communicating with DSO or finding your SEVIS status yourself.

For documents your DS-160 confirmation will have lists that you need. Hope it helps.

P.S - It is not a legal advice, just my opinion and my experience

Wish you good luck.

Like sara_solta11 said, you don't need to pay SEVIS fee for renewal if you have been maintaining your F-1 status.
I renewed mine last fall and didn't pay SEVIS fee. I took these documents:
1. Letter from school (proof of enrollment)
2. Current transkript
3. Current I-20
4. All old I-20s
5. DS-160 confirmation, VISA interview appointment form/confirmation, bank receipt
Renewal was super easy and quick. The interviewer looked just at my current I-20 and transkript, asked just one question, and approved the visa.
Don't forget to take $200 (either USD or NRS...I paid in $) VISA fee, and Good luck!
