Yes very true indeed. I myself have been a victim of this. I moved to California from Truman State ,Missouri long time back and had inquired one of the room enlisted on Chahiyo.com as - A single spacious room near to this and that and in a safe area, good location...... blah blah blah.
I confirmed the room via the contact no. provided as was in a urgent need. First few weeks was a gentle, caring, helpful person who owned a house and had a single bedroom just next to their family bedroom for rent. Later on as time passed by, he revealed his true face. Increased the rent for no reason, started arguing on utilities and kitchen utensils and had a hell of an experience for months to come. At first being new to California didn't know much about the area in general, but as began knowing places and areas, the place was the worst neighborhood you could imagine. Homeless and gangs infested black neighborhood and the nearest bus stop was a terrifying mile long journey through those alleys. Hardly lived there for 3 months with the worst arguing commanding housemates.
So learn from the experience and don't rely on anyone even if they are from the same place or country. In the country of free, learn to be free and independent, try to stand on your own feet and walk on your own shoes. To be honest, I trust an Indian roommate from sulekha.com or a roommate from a different country more. Today I live with a couple of Indian housemates who are the best down to earth buddies you could ever find & I feel alive !!

I dunno about roommates but my ex employer from NYC who is chinese always posts here looking for nepali workers haha I must have impressed him.

When looking for rooms or dealing with anyone in general you have to be careful. Some people have been killed after using craigslist. Some indian guy killed a Nepali woman few years back. You just can't generalize. Not all Nepalis are bad.
