Has anyone recently obtained passport from DC Embassy? I just want to have idea how long is it really going to take, so that I can prepare other things accordingly.

I sent the application in middle of Sep and got it within a month and a half. Surprisingly they were pretty fast.

you can expedite the process as well if you are in a hurry. All you have to do is sign a paper/form allowing someone on your behalf to pick up your passport in nepal(para rashtra mantralaya) and ship it back. The passport itself takes about 7 days to make.The reason it takes 1 month+ is because normally they send the passports from Nepal to US in lot/batches.

Hey guys, when I look at the embassy website, it says passport applicant must be present to apply for new MRP. I won't be able to fly to DC. Any idea on how I can apply without having to fly over there?
