Hello All,
I am working full time using TPS based EAD and maintaining F1 parallelly. According to DSO permission I am taking only 1 course because of TPS and it is mentioned in my I20. DSO was saying that I am OKAY to take one course In comming semester as well till I have TPS. Does that affect my H1B application? I have never ever been out of status after I landed in USA. Legitimate answers are welcome!

"I am working full time using TPS based EAD and maintaining F1 parallelly." I don't see how that's possible. From my understanding, once you work using the TPS-based EAD, your F1 status is jeopardized because you violated F1 rules by working/taking less classes. But there are people like you who say that F1 stays intact. Has anyone worked using TPS EAD and later been able to go back to F1 or get H1B without any problems? Or has anyone been denied that because they worked using TPS EAD? I'm not being mean, just trying to find answer to this confusing question/situation.

You can only take less than 12 credits if you are in your last semester. Otherwise, you are already out of status.

Hello All, Please do not interpret the case based on what wrong information you have. The statement which I said is TRUE. I am working full time, lowered down the course because of TPS with the permission of DSO with new I-20 and maintaining F-1. This year my employer sponsored my H1B visa and got selected in lottery. My question is, lowering down the course load affects on H1B application or not? If somebody who has valid answer, please let me know.

Hello Ramlama, Generally, F1 student should take 12 credit course for undergraduate and 9 credit course for graduate program. In some exception like us(TPS), DSO allows us to lower down the course load because of economic hardship or some medical condition, the students do not need to take full course to maintain F1.

@Nepalinajar: I agree with you regarding the economic hardship thing which lets you take less credits. Post your question on avvo.com. We ain't lawyers.
