I've read several Avvo and Quora threads, but still not sure if it's okay to be one of the co-founders while in school. Has anyone been in this situation?

Fund an immigration lawyer bro. That’s the only way to get most accurate answer. Lay man opinion : I think you can probably co-found it but can’t work for it or make money out of it.

@meraj: thanks. might have to talk to an immi-lawyer. Every blog and Q/A threads I've read so far say what you're saying - can co-found but can't work for the company or receive money while on F-1. And that's exactly my situation - I'll be helping with initial planning and getting the company started. I won't receive any money or paychecks but will own equity. A lawyer can definitely give clearer answer, but hearing from someone who's been through this will be much more helpful. Hopefully there's someone here on Sajha
