One of my children who is a US citizen wants to apply for Green card (adjustment from visitor visa) for us. They need our marriage certificate.

We got married a long time ago and our marriage was not registered. We are currently in USA and it is possible but not practical to go all the way to Nepal to get the marriage certificate because of the Covid and various other tragedies going on.

My first wife passed away and both her death and marriage were also not registered.

What can we do to solve the issue of documentation for marriage and death certification for Green card application? Do we have no choice but to go back to Nepal to get the certificate ?

you can get marriage/dead certificate anytime, just need to have Atleast 3+affidavit. Once u submitted I-30, they will ask additional proof again u need to 2+ person affiliated or dna.

Good luck

Thanks Dev, could you please clarify the following info?

How does 3+ affidavit help us get the marriage or death certificate?

Are you saying that 3 people who know me or the event write an affidavit on a legal document and sign and we give the signed document to the concerned authority and the concerned authority will give us the certificate?

Is this doable from USA or does it require us to travel to Nepal ? If so where do we submit the affidavit to get the marriage and or death certificate?
what do you mean by 2+ person affiliated ?
does dna stand for DNA test (deoxyribonucleic test)?

Please help me understand this. Thank you this is very hepful.

First of all I am very sorry for your loss.

I guess your wife passed away in Nepal. So can you get a death certificate from your village woda? You can then get it translated officially in one of the government offices.

Regarding your marriage certificate, you can get one from your village woda signed by woda sachib. If they can do it in English that should work if not you can get that officially translated as well.

You don’t have to travel to Nepal. You can ask your relatives to get it from the woda. Hopefully they won’t ask you to be physically present. I don’t think they would.
