Hi
Thinking about travelling to Nepal in Oct most likely by qatar airways thru Doha. Tickets are pretty reasonable so far.

Planning on staying a month but return tickets are quite expensive plus I may want to extend my Nepal visit for a few more weeks..... so I wanted to maybe wait or decide on the return ticket once I get to Nepal.

Will the airlines let me board a flight to Kathmandu on a one way ticket SEA-SFO-DOH-KTM just one way? One way tickets sometimes used to create problems in past years.

I asked Qatar reservations and they said it is entirely up to the immigration desk in the USA - and they did not want to give a straight answer but these days you dont have to go through immigrations if you are leaving the usa, especially first on a connecting local US flight to the international airport -like from Seattle to San Francisco - then to Doha....there is no immigration you go thru in Seattke, and once you get to San Fran, you go straight to the gate or the airline....the only people who will see your passport are TSA and the airline people and there is no departure stamp any more.

What is the correct answer? Is it safer to buy 2 way and pay cancellation later or is it OK to go with a one way ticket? I dont want to be disallowed from boarding in the last minute....

The question is for a US citizen of Nepali origin who has family in Nepal. I think a 1 way ticket would be no issue if you are a Nepali citizen. What if you had a NRN card, would a 1 way ticket be safer? I doubt it as the airlines here in the US do not know what NRN card means...

Should not but airlines do not want to commmit...and dont want to be stuck at the airport last minute......us citizen who has already used up 150 days visa may have issues so asking

Thank you deepocean. Also how did you stay 1 year ? Isnt the visa limit 150 days per calendar year if you have a US passport ? (unless you have NRN then it is much longer)
