I want to get my bachelor?s degree in Biomedical Engineering(BME) but right now I am studying Manufacturing Engineering in University of Wisconsin-Stout. Since my major (BME) is not available , I was planning to transfer to other university that have major I wanted to study. During process, I applied to UT-Arlington, but later on I came to know that they enroll transfer student who have 24 credits, but I took only 13 credit in my first semester so they couldn?t enroll me as a transfer student.
Right now, I am in big dilemma, whether to study in the same university i.e UW-Stout study one semester and then transfer into another university that has BME major or transfer into a community college at Texas right now for the fall to finish the general courses. Actually, I have not much information regarding going to community college is good or bad? So I have not been able to decide whether to go to Stout or ?? I am planning to get enrolled in one of the community colleges (DCCCD) of Texas. I have heard that if u study in these community colleges later on while transferring into one of the good university of Texas , I won?t be having any problems and the credits will be transferred. I am afraid , if I study in community colleges , later on after I get the degree I might have problems in getting jobs? Because of this reason I have not been able to decide my self. It is not because of money problem that I want to transfer into a community college but I just don?t want to spend my money in this university because it doesn?t have the BME major as I need to pay for general courses . IF I was studying in the university that have my major I was ready to pay for it since I can take major courses or minor courses related to that and paying money for it would have been fruitful.
Friends insist that if u go to a community college , first of all u can save money as u pay min amount of tuition fees to the college in comparison to the university , secondly the saved money can be used in a better way when u go to a reputed university even though the tuition fees be high. And esp texas can be a very good place to go for students as they can easily get off campus jobs and save some money for future.
