KATHMANDU, Feb 1 - Over two dozen security personnel have been reported killed in the overnight clashes between security forces and Maoist rebels in Tansen, the district headquarters of Palpa district.
Five bodies of Royal Nepalese Army soldiers and 17 bodies of policemen have been recovered so far.

Some 150 security personnel are still out of contact after the rebels’ raid on Tansen yesterday, reported our correspondent quoting security sources.

Though casualties on the rebels’ side are yet to be verified, security sources claim that dozens of rebels were killed in the clash.

The Chief District Officer and a Deputy Superintendent of Police who had gone missing after the attack have come in contact.

Many injured security personnel have been taken to Pokhara for treatment.

Some one and a half dozen injured soldiers have been brought to the army hospital at Chhauni, Kathmandu for treatment.

The rebels launched simultaneous attacks on the RNA barracks, District Police Office, District Administration Office, government banks and other government offices in Tansen, at around 10:45 on Tuesday night.

Heavy fighting continued between the security forces and the rebels till Wednesday morning. Electricity and telephone services in Tansen and surrounding districts Gulmi and Arghakhanchi remain disrupted following the rebel attack.

Chairman Prachanda has shown the decency of paying rich tributes to his comrades killed in Palpa. Chairman Gyanendra aka Mahila Sahu has no such decency. He lets his loyalists die like flies.

ear All,

I had seen many feedbacks in many nepal-related blogs. Most of the people are telling that neither Royal palace (people from royal palace) nor political parties (its people not the party itself) nor maoists (its members not the party) are good for ruling the country. I am also with the same view. But, everyday a question arises on my mind : “So, who should be the one whom we all can trust ?”, “Who should be the one under the leadearship of whom the country could be benefitted ?”, ‘Do we have any idea on that ?” “What kind of system should Nepal adopt so that people could be benefitted ?”.

Why is there no option for us to choose except members of current political parties or maoists members or royal palace members ?

If we have option can anybody tell me specifically what kind of system we are looking for ? Who (Specific person or parties or anything you could think of) under whose leadership the country can benefit ?
If we don’t have answer to these key questions then we all are fighting in vain and for nothing.

I appreciate your participation.

Thank you,
A Dhakal
