Actually there is no system to tell if the election is successful or not looking at the percentage. I had been always thinking in my mind that in a full democracy there should be a place in the ballot paper where we can put a mark to “not willing to vote for this candidate†but I haven’t seen that or heard about that in any countries of the world. This came in my mind when I was about to cast my first vote and I couldn’t find any of the candidates suitable for my vote. There is no place in ballot for people like me. Yes, it’s the right of the citizen to cast vote. Why is there no right for the citizen not to cast vote if he/she doesn’t agree with the situation ? Why is there no place for it ?
This is the major problem all around the world in election system. Leaders are elected despite most of the people don’t like them. Leaders are elected even if the total percentage of votes cast are 40%. What about the rest 60% ? Why their opinions are not counted ? I agree that out of 60%, 15-20% may be in a condition in which they cannot cast their vote. What about remaining 40-45% who are willing to vote but not for any of the current candidates ?
Similar situations had been going on since the very beginning of the election system that’s why a country is failing to establis a total democracy anywhere in the world…
