how is our knowledge derived from our social and cultural understandings??

exactlyyy...it is ur beleif and because it is your belief, anything else will appear wrong. same thing wiht me. different versions of truth, diffeent versions of knowledge... tetarget=new hreforewe are creating our own knowledge, constructing it from our own narrratives. if knowledge was only one, then why would we have soooo many conflicts in teh world?

thing is that you are expressing your belief that knowledge is constructed and I am expressing my belief that it is not a "construct" (I hope you understand what construct means), but it is real. These are just the different beliefs, not the knowledge. I was saying the same thing since begining that Bruno Latour and you have been saying that belief is knowledge (i was saying that your and mine beliefs are different, but you called two different beliefs as two different knowledge as I understood your very last posting.

Let me give you an example: Suppose I say, "there are humans like us on the Saturn", and you say, "there are no, thre are not any". These are just the beliefs, my belief just opposite of yours, and not the knowledge. How do you see this as a knowledge???? Fact is that either there is at least one human like us or thre is NO human like us on the planet Saturn, and this is what constitute a knowledge and this is what I believe is REAL.

Still, I enjoy discussing with you. Go ahead, i will simply listen you.

oh. well yes, either there are humains in saturn or there are no humans. either this or that. this fact is not constructed
but if i continue to insist that tehre are, tehn that is my knowledge. it is true FOR ME. it might not be reality up tehre, but again, if i believe tehre are humans in saturn and if 2 =2 =4, then taht becomes a fact, not for you, not for my porfessor, not for scientistis, but for me. and knoweldge ultimatley is about waht u knowwww...if i knoww (this knowing stemming out of my belief) that there are huamsn in saturn, tehn taht is my knowledge....i am constructing this knoweldge. it dos not matter wehtehr humans exist or not....even if they did not exist, would that make a difference in my life, hell no. so for me, i create my own reality and i choose to live by what i create (I = any individual, not necessarily me). i will go to bed saying there are humans in satrun and wake up saying there are humans in saturn.....(wll are there, you might say no, according to your perceptions of reality), but i think there are, nobody has teh right to tell me i am wrong, bcasue as long as i belive there are humans in saturn, tehre will be humans in saturn, at least in my head....because knowledge does not exist outsdie of this head. it exists inside.

There are many ways to prove that you can actually fool your senses. Here is an example if you want to do it. Dump your left hand in the cold water and dump your right hand in the warm water for five minutes. Then dump both hands in the regular water. You will feel one hand finds that water being warm and another one finds it being cold. Which hand will you believe? You won't depend on any hand this time because you have better knowledge than both hand's senses. However, that will not happen in the real world. You will have to try to discover things from one perspective or another and the knowledge gets formed based on that which is always incomplete.

this is what does not make any sense to me. As i don't believe in constructivism, i avoid saying that perceptions play no role in creating a knowledge. Instead, I would simply say that perception (you believe what you perceive ) and knowledge are two different things.

I, unlike you, think that knowledge or knowing true things makes a different in every body's life. If all people start believing that knowledge is constructed even when you perceived something as reality, what i think is that people will start believing in crazy crazy things like: a patient would believe that he got cured by a prayer instead of drugs, or whatever, for example. and the anarchy??? one extreme form of constructed (if one is to believe) "knowledge" is by a team of 23 world's renowned scientists on stem cell research led by a South Korean Hwang Woo-suk and published in the world's most renowned journal-- the Science (though i understand what is meant by "constructed" in phylosophical sense, i believe that this example also serves the purpose of how Bruno Latour discusses about knowledge construction). You can google this scandal if you want or you might be already well informed about it.

third of all, here is my conclusion: these kinds of argumetns are very iffy. its hard to draw a line between right and wrong. sometimes knowledge is constructed, at other times, it is inherent and true. for example, the knoweldge to suck mother's breast is not instilled upon an infant. it is natural, that is defintely reality. but waht about knowledge of osama bin laden about allah's decree?? is that his perception or is that his knowledge????? definetely his perception, but sad thing, he acts upon it beleiving there wil lbe 72 vigins waiting for him in heaven. if that is perception, then what is knowledgee?? wehre do we leave this perception behind and pick up knowledge? wehre do we draw the line? see its soo hard to come up with a concrete conclusions and even if we did, there would be numerousss loopholes. but its awlyas fun to argue, opens up the mind, does not it?

Anyway, can I believe that your prof will grade you as "A"? ya, it's my knowledge about your understanding on the subject matter because i perceive this as reality....you know why? your arguments are so strong, and above all, you are so strong that you don't seem to be getting tired on any arguments.... don't worry, this is just what i constructed. :)
