Want to add a couple of points here: We, the young generation, need to change our analysis and understanding of the country's situation. So far, our opinions reflect our background, our class interests. If we are well off, well connected with the palace, we support the monarchy. If we are connected with the parties, we support them. If we are disconnected with both of them, and with the maoists, we think that politics is a freaking business of others and we resort to scolding everybody. It is obvious that your understanding comes from the circle you belong to. From whom we live, we interact, we give and take. But we need to change this habit now if we want to forget the bitter past and find a new future.. Forget where you come from. See how functioning democracies around the world operate. Respect the values of a free society - freedom of expression, social justice, each individuals bound by same law, equal oppurtunity etc. If you believe in the basics of freedom and equality, you don't feel sad when Gyanendra is ousted from absolute power and when Kamal Thapa is screwed. They did no good for the country, they were worse than the politicians. That is what the Nepali mass decided, that was their slogan in the demos. This parliament is handling Kamal Thapa, a new parliament can handle Prachanda, Khum Bahadur and others. Just believe in the basics of democracy. Today is good than yesterday and tomorrow will be better, if you give up your class interests for more rational causes. Hari om tassat.

Just a thought about Pyar Jung Thapa Mr. Thapa was unknowingly able to stack away money meant for the fight against the Maoists. Sale Pyar got dowries in the name of Maoism. It is high time folks like Pyar be hanged once and for all. These are crooks who were enjoying the terrorism in reality. No wonder the RNA was no match for a tiny guerilla outfit like the Maoists. If they are spared now, a day will come when they will retake the power. And when that time comes, common people will be forced to take up arms, not only communists.

one note here about PYAR JUNG THAPA. if I remember correctly he is getting officially retired from JUNE 1st. So, by army tradition Lt. General Katuwal is already COAS [ they take over the office a month before]. I believe this is the reason he is not getting sacked or suspended. He is gonna be gone by then. Nobody has to do anything. About how much money he hid in corruption. VERY HARD TO SAY. But I can gurantee much less than previous COAS... like SACHIT SAMSHER and PRAJWALL SAMSHER. If you are keeping tab in corruption in ARMY you very well know who they are. U KNOW WHY? His father was a also in ARMY (O: made it preety high. i believe General they say. He is related to BEKH BDR THAPA. So, i am sure that they have money and property... bought cheap in capital. . On top of that NO SONS TO DESTROY MONEY ON DRUGS. Only daughters ... so (O: as always ==================================================== what do i know?

thapap, You are probably right on the retirement and the suspension (you may have some links: just guessing), but I think this kind of behaviour is a wrong message to the public. If Pyar is guilty, it does not matter whether he is dead or alive, retired or active in duty, the laws of the land should take its course, especially at this juncture of the state of affairs of the nation. It certainly does not matter whether his are sons or daughters. Trivially, how come nobody had such a grand wedding as that of the youngest daughter of Mr. Pyar? Another question is what about the wedding of the other daughters? Why Mr. Pyar should be punished? His blind loyality to the king when he should have acted in the best interests of the people, rather than allowing his folks to kill people in mass.

Agree with testdirector. No matter when he is retiring, by suspending Pyara, the government should set an example. As far as bribe is concerned he should surpass Sachit and Prajwal as the foreign aid for army during his tenure has increased immensly while the standard of RNA hasn't increased in the same rate. Rumor is during his tenure, the trend of bribing money in order to get a promotion (as found in police and other public sectors) was started within army also. It is irrational that while 3 of the chiefs are sacked and one remains untouched (one reason may be he is under Surakhsya parishaad unlike other three and the Surakhya Parishad now comprise of king and GP Koirala). The four chiefs shouldn't only be suspended but their asset should also be inquired intensively.

On the serious note, why do we also have to destroy whatever little we have, why we have to burn cars, bikes, tear down fences, close shops, and all these stuffs? When I laid eyes on the first page, it just scrwed my mood. Kina jahile pani bhatkaune, bigarne, jahile pani yestai taal. For once, maybe all the security forces should let them destroy everything. Burn down everything. Fcukin assholes, what the fcuk is this? Kahile milera kehi kura garna nasakke jatha haru. We have seen partites rule, we have seen King's rule, now it's about time we see maoist's rule. When they will burn our skin on fire for have minor idealogical differences, saab thik huncha. What next? Burn every "pakki" ghar, destroy bridges, all 5 star hotels for Maoist's cadre? Mu.ji je gare ni bhayo. Jo aye ni je gare ni bhayo. Barbaad bho yo desh. Fcuk.

What's with this constant buring of official vehicles? Indisquise, the scene looks more like Fallujah than Thapathali. Law & Order situation is deteriorating day-by-day. Now to Pyar Jung.....his jethan is Bhekh Bdr, so i don't think that has anything to do with his income. I heard from a friend of mine who's in the army "...a COAS stands to make 3-5 crore during his tenure from the kickbacks from various contracts, rations, weapons and ammuninations purchase, etc. Then, there is money coming from the UN operations around the world that gets siphoned off. The army's huge account at some bank compels the bank to kick in some "percentage" towards the generals who are responsible for setting up the account. The army's funds at the bank(s) are in crores. Furthermore, I think, his wife, at one time, was running Mary Stopes Clinic. M. Stopes runs various family-planning programs in the country and gets the funds from abroad. So, there's another source of Income, legitimately or otherwise. I'm sure Pyar Jung was ok with having to spend a couple of crores to have a son-in-law from the former princely state of Baroda. I'm sure India had something to do with Pyar Jung not being sacked. The groom's sister is married to the son of late Madhavrao Scindia, JYOTIRADITYA RAO SCINDIA, the current maharaja of Gwalior and a Lok Sabha member from Congress(I). We all know the clout Congress(I) or,for that matter, any other party in India has over the Congress party of Girija Prasad.

Looks like the Maoists cadres are running amok in the capital. Having nothing much to do, they go around town destroying "property" like they run the show. Welcome to the jungle...we have fun and games......!

I, like 99% (no research done, my humble assumption) of the Nepalese, am/was waiting for peace and order of law to be restored. Even for the pessimist majority, I assumed the Maoists have perfect safe landing opportunity which they would definitely make good use of, and also, a better chance to achieve the ideological victory - their selling line. What's in the practice is for the entire world to see. Anyways, by the recent developments, I am actually more worried that now it's getting more deadlier simply because, even when circumstances demands it, it appears that Maoists are less for solving the problem and more for my way or highway. It's so fcuking frustrating to see all these opportunity slipping away, while they make comment after comment about impending peace talk, while the actions on the ground are anything but positive. Now they ask for half the budget? I mean - Jesus fcuking Christ! Couple of my pals' families in recent weeks had to shed 10 lakhs and 12 lakhs for "Janandolaan vistims," to the Maoists. The civilian societies have arranged in excess of 20 millions Rupees. My understanding would be, if they received 2.2 millions from two families, I bet there are other 500-1000 family they must have asked similar amounts, give or take few extra lakhs. So you can imagine how much they have raised. Okay fine, they were playing Robinhood, but WHERE IS THAT FREAKIGN MONEY? How did they help ANY Janandolaan victims with 100s hundreds of millions of Rupees? If within this one month they do not make their intention absolute and come as a genuine party whose sole interest lies for the country and people, no matter what we read and hear, we are in for another decades and decades of war. Do you really think Maoists will actually come for free and fair democratic process, and would let people's wish reign supreme? Their action says a BIG NO. Since when did Hyenas ceased to stop being Hyenas? I hope I'm wrong. I do not know what you guys think, but I am really freaking frustrated when I open the news and do not see them talking anything positive except making one demands after another. Fcuk come, talk, amend, run for election, make changes, and this and that. If not now, then when? Kasto kulangaar haru raicha, news khole ki deemag ko 12 bajcha Maoists haru ko chalamala dekhera. Is the entire world blind for them to say they have NOTHING to do with recent bonfire for barbarism in the naked streets of Nepal? Give me a fcukin break. ChipOTB, @ it would not take for Ktm to become Fallujah, don't you think? Frustrated IndisGuise:O

While senseless, ignorant Nepalese people rant about what the people achieved in 19 days what Maoists couldn't in 10 years, that is bringing down autocratic rule and changing the course of Nepal, I would like to remind them that it is not the general people but the Moaists that achieved if anything. The absence of political leaders in the protest is a simple clue to who was leading it. Anyway, the Maoists rule has started, and it is going to be deadly. If those 19 days were bad, then just sit and wait what will happen in near future. Anarchy will prevail, and Maoists will be the sole reason in making Nepal a failed state.
