To me Argentina was a better team than germany... I never liked German (or for that matter England) way of playing . they play physical... wiht long passes and hoping that their player gets the chances on those long balls. to me that is not a beautiful footbal. I like the way Argentina and Brazil play. they play short balls, great one touches and so beautiful to watch... And at the end of the day, its not always the team that plays beutifully becomes successful... having said that i respect others views also... there are many people who like the typical German or England way of playing...

It is not only me who is saying Argentina was playing very good in this tournament, many people around the world are saying same thing. Even football legend Pele and former German captain Lothar Matheus (1990 WC winning team) have already acknowledged their outstanding performance. Even in today's game, they clearly dominated the host nation which was also playing very good since beginning. It was only their bad luck to end up with PSO.
Even talking about tie with Holland, please keep in mind that they are all time good team accompanied with some misfortune. On top of that, Most of the Argentine key players were in the bench in that game.
I know you may be talking about Italy, they even tied with the USA. Also, they were survived by referee against Australia game.

makar tantra how can you say italy survived by referee. italy was given harsh red card in 24th minute and you should know by then they were creating many chances. if they were playing 11 against 11 probalby italy would have been 2-0 up by 90 minutes.

and i went though sydney herald which is an australian magzine that said italy deserved penalty because you just cant slide infront of the player and obstruct the way . unfrotunately thats what australian player did.

and by the way australia themselves were lucky. remembe harry kewell goal against croatia was clear offside and they wouldnt have qualified.

anyway i think germany and brazil has been two best team in the tournament. Germany has won 5 matches in a row. argentina won 3 matches out of 5 match. I know loss for argeintina is hard to come over.

but if by saying argentina was the best team makes them feel good then ok ARGENTINA ARE THE BEST TEAM.

You don't have to say Argentina good. I was more concerned about the way you were humiliating Holland.

I have to say that when I was disappointed with Holland loosing the game and out of the World Cup, I accepted gracefully, eventhough I wholeheartedly disagreed with the refereeing and the fouling of the Portuguese. I just could not bear it, infact I was so disappointed that I thought I was never going to watch a single game in this World Cup. But fellas, this is only a game and that we should never take it so seriously. I still support Holland and I unbearably say that they will come out in the next European Championship firing.

But the whining of the Argentine supporter is just too much to take. The game was dead locked with both sides playing well. I agree that Argentina controlled the ball well in the first half, but I thought there was never a grave threat in the germany's goal line. I thought yes they are playing well, but why the heck are they not shooting or not threatening when they are controlling the ball so well? I was infact surprised to see Germany not being able to attack, but the possesion that Argentina got and that they never looked threatening was shocking to say the least. They were playing with a plan to not let the Germans take control of the game. They succeded in doing that, but they fail to make a plan of attacking at the same time. It was negative plan to say the least and thats where they failed. The only chance was through a beautifully taken corner in which they headed home but from that onwards, I think Germany played way better. They controlled well, they never gave up and that is where I think Argentina should not have sat back and let Germans attack. They know how to control the ball as they did in the first half, why were they not able to do that after they scored the goal was surprising. But I believe the young German side, this coming from a neutral guy, played really well and they fought back and won. Please please please, why is it so hard to accept is I just cannot understand?

Germany are hard to beat in penalty shoot out. They have lost very few when it comes to penalties, and so Argertina should have gone on an all out attack in the extra time. They did not. In fact both sides were tired, but Germany looked threatening when they went forward. They will take it pleasingly if it goes to penalties, because their record speaks volumes. But what has Argentina got to show when it comes to PSO. It failed miserably today for them. I think it is better not to make lame excuses and accept that Germany won it. The main score that counts is the score line and not this is what happened and this is what should have happened. Let us watch the game in true spirit of game man ship and accept that Argentina lost today. It wasn't bad refereeing, it wasn't because of Germany's physical play or diving. It was because of their negative play and a very good game that disappointingly ended in penalties. It was a coin toss. Both sides could have won in penalties. There is no justice here in penalities for both sides when they loose.

My two cents. I am very sad that my Oranje Boys lost in a very saddened encounter with the goddam portuguese. We will get 'em next time.

In a football game when the decision has to be made by PSO...i feel like that is somehow not a true spirit of football. I don't know why I'm thinking like this....probably ARG lost. Yes, as other saathis mentioned above, it's really hard to accept the lost of favourite team. ARG was a great team and they did well but they weren't so offensive as said by O boy.
I think most of us wanted them to be in final......but...GAME ta HO..har jit bhaihalcha.....yasai bhani chitta bujhaunu parya cha.

KE YO PALI KO FINAL PANI BRAZIL vs GERMANY?

no. 1 ARG gayo aba afu ta ITA tira...

Though playing well in the first half, Argentina played negatively after scoring the goal, was unfortunate to lose the first goalkeeper and did some ridiculous substitutions like taking out Riquelme and not bringing Messi.

Germany fought back in the second half and Lehman did well in the penalties. Its definitely hard to beat the Germans in PSO, but Argentina also had unbeaten record in PSO in World Cup until yesterday!

I have been a long time Argentine fan and its quite sad to see them out of the WC. Better luck next time!

as i sit watching the england vs portugal game this morning, i could not stop commenting on this thread. most nepalis are argentina fans no doubt. ever since the days of '86 world cup, nepalis and most asians have been fans. most nepalis either support them, brazil or england. some maybe italy. but in recent years, germany is the only other team besides brazil to show some consistency by performing well. i will be very surprised if germany wins the world cup. but they deserve their success. not a fast team but consistent. argentina was a very good team but it was proved that when it came to penalties, they sucked. and in soccer that is one important aspect you can not rule out. you have to excel in everything and not just "ball chhalaune". hoina ta?

World map: Good fan spirit . It's nice to hear an arg fine using their brain and saying things in a true fan spirit. Instead of cussing the winning team.
I totally agree with midwestdude. When I was a kid there were so many argentina fans so I decided to be a Germany fan..WC90.

game ramro khelne bhaneko ke ho? ke 90 min nai ball khuttama ghumaudaima tesle jitnu parchha bhanne chha ra? argentina is a good team, in fact a very good team. but every team has different strategy of playing with different team.argentina was aware of germany coz that was the only team who could beat them in this world cup so they always concentrated of simply a fact , we should not let germans take control of ball.and they succeeded coz whenever germans get the ball , they attack but the argentinians were busy possessing the ball rather than shooting at the post.just look at the statistic.in the first half argentininas were possessing 63% of ball n the germans only 37% but if u count the number of attack on the post it is just oppoiste.germans tried 5 shots n argentinians just a single one.germans had target only goal post that is why they could score goal even at the last moment.they never gave up.both teams were nervous, n germans even more in the first half coz they were under pressure deu to high expectation of fans n home ground.overall both teams were equally good but it is just a matter of strategy.sometimes it functions n sometimes it does not.like brazil, if u just c a every single name u bite ur finger wow such a great player but a single great player does not make a team.ther was no co-ordination in team n they played without aim.moreover they r lazy that is why they lost with french.that was just an overrated team though the players were all best of the world.anyway back to germany n argentina!!bad luck argentina there is always a next chance n gratulation! deutschland du bist der Weltmeister!!!

elexier i feel portugal is the team with many fouls and faking. yesterday when rooney was about to be given yellow card chirsiano ronaldo who is his manchester team mate and he is all aware of rooneys hot tempered attitude went on to the refree right infront of rooney and appealed for red card against rooney just to anger rooney because he was well aware how he would respond. Exactly thats what happened , rooney in anger pushed ronaldo and he got red carded.

ronaldo later winked to the coach as if their plan has been succesful against rooney. i would say scholari is a master tactician and way portugal players has been conning refree in this world cup has been amazing. figo leads the way

it was almost enevitable from the start of the world cup that european teams wins the world cup. European team usually excels in european world cup. Brazil hasnot won in european world cup in last 50 years.may be next world cup is outside europe in southafrica may be world cup again goes to south america.

It is a common attitude of the fans of the loosing team to point on the bad refreeing decision and say how unlucky they have been. so i am not surprised argentinian and brazilian fans to be ranting about how lucky they have been. Even english fan can argue about the red card of rooney and one penalty not given for them. but you have to move on. Four best teams are there and it will be fun to watch.

as a die hard italian fan i am sure italy will win. but if they loose i will be here ranting but i know that time wont come in this world cup.

bidhan, exactly dude. I appreciate you saying so, making a valid argument and an exact of what happened in the field. That is exactly what happened and CR should be ashamed of his behaviour. But thats the way Football is played thesedays. Look at the final minutes of France Vs. Brazil. Ronaldo clearly dived and the referee was too far away to see. If Ronaldinho had scored from the resulting free-kick, the outrage in France and the supporters would have been spectacular. I mean common man, Ronaldo, diving, and he wasn't touched. So, why are the Brazilian supporters so outraged about other team diving and getting free-kicks and penalty kicks?

Whenever I have seen Rooney play, he has played fairly. He is a young, energetic lad and English supporters should be proud of what he has accomplished and done for the team in his young career and the potential of things he can achieve in England uniform. The free-kick should have been his for he was being tangled by three portuguese and he could have falled down on the ground like any other player would have done and it was a clear cut free-kick. But he tried to take possession of the ball, the players were tackling him mercilessly to gain control of the ball, and for all those time, what in the world was referee looking at being right in the nose of the incident? I was yelling, call free kick for god sake. It is ridiculous refereeing and he was clearly going to give him a yellow. CR is a such a mass of shameful, arrogant kid. He sure will be welcome wisely when he goes to Old Trafford.

Anyways, Germany are looking clear favorites to lift the trophy but the suspension of Frings will be a major blow for them. Lets see how Klinsmann copes with that.
