I have seen a lot of nepali gals in the nursing field but not guys. it's definitely the hottest job in america now and will be for next couple decades. I have seen a secure job field and sound future for those people. but the mentality of gender based things uncertained me in choosing my career. i found that there are only 6% male nurses in US. what i am thinking is, it's better to have a well paying nursing job and good lifestyle in US than getting frustated without getting highly paying competitive jobs. i would like to get some advice from other friends. maybe this thread help to find out about the numbers of man nurses. thanx for reading

Surely, that's one of the hottest fields right now. As the baby boomers retire, any health care related industry will be hot for the coming decade. More so, if the democrats get the majority in the Senate and the House and eventually the office of President.

Samrock, Go for it!!!! I strongly reccomend. Who gives a hoot about what people will say if youre a nurse? You can pull up beside your new car and a 300,000 dollar house you just morgaged and laugh at their faces instead. Its very important samrock to break that wall, that wall of perception that nursing is only for women. You can be assured that the involvement of women in the nursing field, here in the US only started booming due to necessity created by war, the input of women in the workforce was extremely necessary as all the men were out fighting battles. It was not initially designed to be a job of any specific gender. Its a great paying job with HALF the stress of being a doctor. Heck, i'm been thinking about this a lot too. I might be joining you as a nurse in the next 4 years. :) If the social scrutiny of "what will people think of me, if i become a nurse" is the only reason thats bothering you, then you should pack that scrutiny in a piece of paper, make it into a ball, and toss it into the green dumpster outside your apartment while you go to nursing classes. I see green all the way. :) good luck shamrock.

NO matter where these guys end up.. its apparent that they'll do a lot better than you (the sick Bathroom cleaner that YOU are). Bugger off!! YOur negativity stinks!!.. much more than the sh*t you lay your hands on every waking hour of you life. do the math and calculate the length, breadth, height adn weight of your obnoxiousness. infinte variable. i hope you go insane. we need sanity in this place. real bad.
