This is the policy of Sajha. But it is not implemented to the members who give some donations. Anyways, dollar has great strength. So no one will question about what can a paid member post here.
Acceptable Use Policy
Blocking visitors is not something that is done without careful consideration. If a person continuously shows disregard for others and the website even after being warned several times, then in order to sustain the smooth functionality of the site, the perpetrator will be actively considered for blocking.
There are two types of blocking. The first blocking is simply a block on the USERNAME whereby the user is not allowed to post anything or reply to anything. If the person INSISTS on registering multiple usernames and continue to behave unacceptably, then a block on the IP address is considered. Sometimes this will mean that a whole ISP will have to be blocked just to block one individual and it is very unfortunate when and if this happens.
Unacceptable use that hamper the sustenance of the site includes anything that can adversely affect sajha.com's goal of bringing together Nepali communities. For example if a user continuously shows animosity towards a certain ethnic group, religious group, etc. This kind of action will alienate certain section of the Nepali community and that goes against the main objective of sajha.com.
Another unacceptable use is when someone decides to use sajha.com to fulfill his/her personal propaganda by CONTINUOUSLY posting the SAME or SIMILAR content in almost every other thread. This kind of behaviour has its toll on visitors to sajha.com since it begins to alienate visitors who do not want to see the same thing over and over and over again. Hence in order to retain the freshness and vigor of the site, such personal propaganda will be considered for blocking. This includes incessant voicing of personal discontent toward certain user or users. Such personal matters need to be resolved through personal communications such as e-mail or telephone.
Regarding some pictures which are considered inappropriate, this is a hard decision to make. Since the degree of inappropriateness will vary vastly among the visitors here, I hesitate before making hard rules regarding this. I have been taking personal requests in the past and will continue to do so to delete pictures that are deemed offensive. I request visitors to understand that it is impossible to monitor the site everytime someone posts something. Hence please use discretion when uploading images or viewing them.
I prefer not to make too many rules, since I want this place to be a self sustaining virtual community where everyone has respect for others. I would like sajha community to be guided by peace, love and harmony. Life is short, let's have fun while we can - without making anyone else feel bad. Shall we?
Addendum (11/6/2003):
Since people are representing themselves here when they decide to post publicly, it is natural for others to make judgements about their cyber persona through their postings, or question them according to their representation of themselves depending upon the content of their postings.
As public posters, they hold public position in sajha. As any publicly held positions they will have admirers, they will have some who will adore them, some who question them, some will make caricatures of them, and some will write humorous pieces about them. For example, in the past we have seen people writing poems about other posters, writing humor pieces, etc.
It is a natural progression of things for something like this to happen. HOWEVER, as soon as these humorous pieces or discussions/arguements overstep the boundaries of sajha and begins to border upon the personal lives of people - which is outside of someone's sajha existence, it begins to get very offensive.
Even when a poster is continually harassed by certain individual for no apparent reason, it will begin to get OFFENSIVE after a certain time. If a poster notifies the admin that something is getting offensive, the issue will be given careful consideration.
On further note, anyone having any kind of issues contact the admin directly through email to sort out such issues than posting messages for the admin in Kurakani. This is a voluntary service but we cannot promise that we will be able to read every thread and answer back or try to solve issues by answering online. If any of the solutions are important enough to be posted, or if it gives rise to some valuable insights or policies, it will be posted for the public. There is no reason for sajha official business - meaning policies etc to take the space of general discussions for which this site is here for in the first place.
