1) verbal -->mug up the unknown words (there are about 5000 in total (?)). there is no other way out. just chew those freakin words and eat them and burp loudly :P --->700/800 (anything above this is a sweet bonus!) 2) quantitative-->pretty easy. if you were good in mathematics in highschool, it's a piece of cake. but, respect! make sure you know the format to save time. 800/800---> you've got to get a perfect score in this, if you're an engineering student. 3) analytical---> practice analytical writing with reasonings. try to think analytically and give logical reasonings for a given scenario. examples are given in the test. 6.0/6.0--> trust me it's not that difficult to get a perfect score in this. Barron's GRE is the best. Kaplan and others are also there. Don't panic, it's not as difficult as it seems. Go ahead and crack it! good luck! LooTe

my gre scores were. 790 quant 500 verb 4.5 analytical writing I did study for 2 months.....But i paniced in the exam...its not just mugging up the words .. its how confident u are...to tell u the truth....i had all Cs in my last 5 or 6 verbal questions...i didnt have enough time. Practice the comprehension passage stuff...that sometimes can get really tough....at least that was what happened to me.. By the way u might know that the test is adaptive.....so be sure to get ur first 6-7 questions correct..............thats really important.... Barons the best. best of luck

Here is what I did for the verbal part....I was tired of not being able remember the insane vocab..so I recorded the words, their meanings and a relevant senetence into my mp-3 (i guess its ipods these days..but whatever!). its a little extreme, but you can try recording the words into your mp-3/ipod/ or even good old cassete player at home. Just record a bunch of your words with your own voice and listen to them day in and day out...its almost like listening to "GRE SONG" .... about quant...if you are an eng./science student with descent math skills 760+ shouldnt be a problem..the rest is luck and how you much/little stress you can handle! Besides Barrons, Kaplan is a good one... G'luck
