Satchit Shumshere dies at 74

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, May 4 - Satchit Shumshere Rana, the former Chief of Army Staff and member of the outlawed Rajparisad has died. He was 74.
Rana died of cancer Friday morning at the Army Hospital in Chhauni, Kathmandu.

A key advisor to King Gyanendra, Rana, remained a controversial figure for defending the February1,2005 takeover.

The High-Level Probe Commission in November last year, had recommended the government to take action against Rana for his role in bloody suppression of April's pro-democracy movement.

He is survived by three daughters and one son.

May his soul rest in peace.

Whenever someone who has served the country through public service dies, it is a moment for pause and reflection. At least for me.

Do not think as one person who supported King died like some idiot kid in hisblogs and celebrate.
Think he was A nepali, a person who was loyal to Nepal and served Nepal.

May his soul rest in peace.

May his Soul Rest in Peace.

He was my late father's friend. Could be from ST Xaviers era. Am not sure. But I recall, my pop talking about his leadership skills during some foreign trip.

Best~!

Captain Haddock, I agree with your sentiments.
