Number of Prizes more than number of Kavi? Within a couple of years, there will be no Kavi left. I had never seen such a long list of Prizes. You will see the same winners in the coming year's list. Today's Mechi Zone winner might become Gandaki Zone's winner tomorrow..... I am not criticizing these prize winners, nor their work, but simply the number of prizes is so much that it hardly makes a worthy note/recognition. How many readers will read each winner's name? It is like a local volleyball game competition, and everyone wins a prize: pressure cooker to tapke.

Have fun:

Gandaki Zone award:Kshetra Pratap Adhikari: Yuddhaka Chhyaharu (shadows of war)

Mechi Zone award to Yuvaraj Nayaghare: Anam Pahadma Phanphani

Laxman Satyal-Bagmati Zone Book award: Shree Om Shrestha Rodan for Nabirsane Dinharu (unforgettable days)

Timsina Memorial Book award for First Publication to Dr. Deepak Khadka for Chyatna Nasakeko Chithi (letter that could not be torn): Is he the same Nepe at Sajha.com?

Chetnath Ghimire-Koshi Zone Book award to Dr. Khagendra Prasad Luitel for Kavitako Samrachanatmak Wishleshan (structural analysis of poems).

Govinda Giri 'Prerana' Narayani Zone award to Ruku Karki for Madhurima

Rohini Sharma Dhaulagiri Book award to Homnath Subedi for Aprabaska Suseli

Thakur Regmi-Janakpur Zone Book award has been given to Pramila Sharma for her book Samjhanako Jhari Americama Ghari Ghari.

The awards are given every two years.

GP

What ever their policies are, you must accept the fact that they are contributing for Nepali language outside Nepal.

Even the Noble Prize Committee gives away so many Noble prizes

Shirish ji,

Why can not I raise questions? Why should I accept their policies?

Don't impose me. I can put my opinion.

Shirish: Even the Noble Prize Committee gives away so many Noble prizes

Yes, they do. But, not everyone returns home with prize. What is ratio of prize winners vs memberships or contributers? That was my question. As I wrote above, how many readers will remember or read these all names? If a prize does not make a real news, than what is worth of award? Award = recognition. When public has hard time recognizing the prize winner, what is that worth for? Soooooooooooo many prize in such a small community. I am not criticizing a writer, but such a large number of prizes make these writer's contribution not that valuable. It looks everyone is getting prize, and there will be no member left out in future.

Lets not forget that "outstanding" should mean outstanding a few percentage out of the mass. The length of the prize winners list clearly shows that the prizes are not really outstanding. That is my understanding. You have a full right to dismiss my arguements.

In Japan, every year around October 10, there is nation wide sports day. It is national holiday. In child care center to all educational institutions, games / sports are played. I was very surprised to see that every kid is given a medal, and the reasoning was that everyone should be promoted, and so that no one feels disappointed. That is Japan's working style. I liked that, and I certainly liked INLS's prize winners long list, so that at the end of a few years on the road, every Nepali writer will get a prize. I appreciate their effort to bring Japanese style, and it will certainly promote Nepali writers.

Good Job.

Prizes are given such that people thrive to get it. But, when you are sure that you will get it, I wonder whether anyone will ever put an extra effort.

GP,
Have you noticed that you are pretty much talking to yourself? Are you experiencing an episode of bipolar disorder?

GP ji

I am not imposing you है ! Just राम्रो कुरालाई appreciate गरम् ! i know your intention is to improve the organization.

When I suggested to GBNC about establishing a paypal account to accelerate and facilitate donations, they took me in a wrong way and thought I was trying to create a controversy.

I think, the prize winners are "outstanding" at least in the sense that they published ( a) books (s).

I checked their website and it clearly states that:

Shirish ji,

Maile criticize gareko hoina. I wrote above that I am not criticizing the writer's work, but the prize should be such that a writer thrives to get it. If the sponsors are so many, I would rather suggest them to combine two or more, and make the list a short and concise, such that the winner is proud of it, and the "non-winners" thrive to get it. Please go and interview their friends and relatives, and ask : how do they feel with long list of winners? Yes, it promotes like in Japanese schools: socialist thinking, but will not bring new level of competition: like the think tank in capitalism think. Both are great approches, but I prefer less number of prizes, but large in prize amount/ quality, so that I can remember who got yesterday, and who will get tomorrow. I don't want to call a prize outstanding, when in a few year, you don't have a freshman to offer the award.

Let me tell you this story. BGA, one of the pioneering society in my profession, offers R. Lecture award every year. One year, they offer it to British, and next year they offer to international, even under this situation, British are feeling that they have drained out the list of Great British professionals who really is outstanding to line with the big guys "outstanding" people who received the title yesterday. People around the world make fun because one British one international is simply not comparable. So, today these prize winners in INLS are outstanding, but when you start distributing the prize in such long list, tomorrow: down the road, a hari latthak will also get it, because you simply don't have people left out or same people get under different title. This was my concern. Well, it is their prize, it is their choice. But, I am just raising a question whether you will have such problem down the road, and these early "outstanding" writer will agree with prizes given to future "out standing" winners out of left out list.

Good Job INLS. No doubt, on that, but becareful whether today's outstanding will really honor tomorrow's outstanding writers?
