Lord Buddha was sitting under a banyan tree. One day, a furious Brahmin came to him and started abusing him.

The Brahmin thought that Buddha would reciprocate in the same manner, but to his utter surprise, there was not the slightest change in the expression on his face.
Now, the Brahmin became more furious. He hurled more and more abuses at Buddha. However, Buddha was completely unmoved. Actually there was a look of compassion on his face. Ultimately the Brahmin was tired of abusing him. He asked, "I have been abusing you like anything, but why are you not angry at all ?"

Lord Buddha calmly replied, "My dear brother, I have not accepted a single abuse from you."

"But you heard all of them, didn't you?" The Brahmin argued half-heartedly.

Buddha said, "I do not need the abuses, so why should I even hear them?"

Now the Brahmin was even more puzzled. He could not understand the calm reply from Buddha.

Looking at his disturbed face, Buddha further explained, "All those abuses remain with you."

"It cannot be possible. I have hurled all of them at you," the Brahmin persisted.

Buddha calmly repeated his reply, "But I have not accepted even a single abuse from you ! Dear brother, suppose you give some coins to somebody, and if he does not accept them, with whom will those coins remain?"

The Brahmin replied, "If I have given the coins and not needed by someone, then naturally they would remain with me."

With a meaningful smile on his face, Buddha said, "Now you are right. The same has happened with your abuses. You came here and hurled abuses at me, but I have not accepted a single abuse from you. Hence, all those abuses remain with you only. So there is no reason to be angry with you."

The Brahmin remained speechless. He was ashamed of his behavior and begged for Buddha's forgiveness.

Inner calmness and peace are keys to contented life.

When will Prachanda, Baburam, Madhav, Girija, Ram Chandra Poudel, and all those Brahmin leaders will beg for forgiveness from NEPALESE PEOPLE. I think that's not going to happen. These buggers will have to be forced out of the system... and Time will come when Nepalese POeple will dump all these guys in the landfill.

Hi, as a practicing Budhist, I feel like I need to respond to this thread. I don't know how the actual Brahmins live today, but the story above is a classical truth in Buddhist life story. When Gautama was enlightened and became the Budda, he tought only truth, the universal truth. He rose above all the sectarianism, which means of livelihood for the Brahmins the time. For example, Brahmins priest would deceitfully demand lot of offerings from the people in return for their services to please their gods, and they would tell people that only Brahmins can talk to the god directly. But Buddha rejected that idea, and said that was a false livelihood. (Budha's teaching on Right Livelihood: no cheating, no killing, no harming any sentient being). Budha proclaimed that one is the master of his own, and noboday can take nobody to heaven if such thing as heaven exists. Only oneself can create ones own Karma, and that becomes the path to one's own salvation (and to heave, if that is the understanding of the individual). Obviously, such teaching was putting lot of Brahmin priests out of job, and they were furious with Buddha. They crafted many tactics against the Buddha, including the one example posted above, but the Buddah unmovavle. He existed in the purest form (he was impurable) and his light would radiate far and wide to enligten even those with with darkes mind, such as the above Brahmin, from his own ignorance, not by force or preaching but by example, experience and teaching of the truth.

Some poeple misunderstands budhhism.... Buddha tried both extremes - Existense of God Notion and Total Materialism. He rejected both... and got success with Middle Path. He understood the relationships between Mind and Matter. Therefore, Buddha had to face lot of oppositions from both schools of thought during his time.. and yet he persisted. Till today no brahmin could defeat Buddha's teachings. Such was Buddha's enlightenment.

renunciation of thinking is a declaraion of spiritual bankruptcy ~ whilst prevalent to provincialism of religous conscience stigma such believe who`s who religion is superior to other religions is intolerence ~ obliterate the hatred for human minds too is species of violence!

notch from Lord Budhha,Holy Brahmin and decent Nepalese mankind citizens ~ leave them in peace - to alleviate the tension of your so called "Prachanda, Baburam, Madhav, Girija, Ram Chandra Poudel, and all those Brahmin leaders " Prem, i suggest you envisioned ahead into substitute world likes before Adam fell on spell ~ where life is simple and naive ~ bring all these name you mention and wrest in the name of you so called landfill, box there and see what you win should it pay you off to your agenda. Hope remedy!
