Mukesh Ambani's new residence - a 27-storey glass-fronted
building will have parking for 168 cars, three helipads, a theatre and 600
staffers for its upkeep. Mukesh Ambani's new residence being constructed in
Mumbai's Altamount Road
is the stuff myths are made of. Named after the mythical island Antilia, the
house-in-the-making will be completed by next year. It is being built on a
4,532 sq metre plot that was acquired by Ambani in 2002.
27 FLOORS:
According to the plan, the house will rise to a height of 173.12 meters,
equivalent to that of a regular 60-storeyed residential building . However,
Antilia will have only 27 storeys in all.
SIX FLOORS FOR PARKING :
The first six floors will be reserved for parking alone, and that too for cars
belonging only to Mukesh's family. Space for a total of 168 imported cars has
been earmarked here.
ENTERTAINMENT FLOOR:
The eighth floor will have an entertainment centre comprising a mini-theatre .
BALCONIES WITH GARDENS :
The rooftop of the mini-theatre will serve as a garden, and immediately above
that, three more balconies with terrace gardens.
THE HEALTH FLOORS:
While the ninth floor will have a 'refuge' floor - meant to be used for rescue
in emergencies - two floors above that will be set aside for health. It will
have facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, while the other will have a
health club.
FOR GUESTS:
There will be a two-storeyed glass-fronted apartment for the Ambani family's
guests above the health floors.
FAMILY:
The four floors at the top, that will provide a view of the Arabian
Sea and a superb view of the city's skyline, will be for Mukesh,
his wife Neeta, their three kids and Mukesh's mother Kokilaben .
AIR SPACE FLOOR:
Two floors above the family's residence will be set aside as maintenance areas,
and on top of that will be an 'air space floor,' which will act as a control
room for helicopters landing on the helipad above. There will be three helipads
there.
STAFF:
Nearly 600 staffers are expected to work in the building. COST: House with a Price Tag of Rs.4000 crore for 6 people and 600
staff

When rich people show their richness buy giving it to the helping foundation, people really appreciate it and aknowledge their rich heart as well, an example is Warren Buffet. But then there are dick-heads like this when your country's people are struggling to put grains in their stomach, just try to show off.
"Hunata Bhayako Lay Nai Garnae Ho", but i think he has an imprint of "Money = Respect" in this brain.

One of the reasons our region remain undeveloped is that we've no sense of philantropy. We have no feeling of generosity. I've no hard feelings against him for this construction, but we also need to contribute to our society which made us. Has he even donated 0.001% of the money worth of this building?
The same thing happens in Nepal. The rich people prefer to spend lavishly in marriage parties and perhaps never even donate a slightest portion of the amount spent on these parties to the society.
The feeling of generosity and the will to lend hards to the needy people are one of the reasons that I like in this country. Perhaps we may have some faults in our own culture or religion or might be we are picking only the wrong manipulated ones like the need to sacrifice animals in the name of pleasing gods.
I can't find one post by nepali blogger who wrote an article on Amitabh Bachhan's donation of a diamond ring worth of crore rupees to the hindu temple getting the headlines in all indian newspapers while thousands of poor farmers were committing suicide with the fear of not being able to pay the loans because of severe drought. I salute the people like Warren Buffet.

It's not how much money you have, it's how many people you helped with your money.

South East Asian culture, especially Hindus.
Our epics and cultures are solely based on power. That is the reason we have more gods than any other religion. Who ever got power, had given high status as god and rest were followers. He is one of them and carries the same cultures and values. But future is not certain, may be the top doner too.

Ok first off, I DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL YOUR RESPONSE. What is this? Why are you people commenting negatively about something that's not even yours? Why do we hate other people and their lifestyle instead of appretiating it? I dont understand why out brothers and sisters think this way. Mr. Ambani has worked hard for his money. He has earned it. Its only one life for everyone. No one knows what would happen after you die. So why not live this life the way you want to live? It's his money, he had the mind to generate it. What do you guys think it's really easy to run such a big corporation like Reliance? Do you guys think he just sits all day and revenue is generated by it self? It's takes lot of work, sleepless nights and longer days to become what he is now. Second, is he a political leader? or a social worker? Is it mandatory for him to donate money and take care of the entire population just because he has billions? Why do us(nepalese) people have such wrong mentality and are judging people who are not of our same nationality. Yes he would need to donate etc... if he was a public servent. But i dont see any reason why he needs to take care of all those people who die for not having food in thier plate. He is not a jesus christ that needs to be a savior for all these people. If people are dying due to hunger and disease its their fortune. Consider me indifferent or being rude but this is my perspective. As you know opinions does vary. I think everyone dosent need to start something like, "Bill and Melinda gates foundation" to take care of needy people. They could do that if they wish because its their money. And they have all the right to do so.
Peace

Yekloyatri, you are right. In the world of Capitalism, one's success should be applauded. But, fact of the matter is, it still smacks of something wrong.
In a country where one third of its population, which is still bigger than the whole of the United States', lives on less than a dollar a day, it just does not make logical sense that there are few people like Ambani who have so much.
But more than that, I think what feels like a slap on a face to common folks is that his super ostentious life style, not to mention this supposedly billion dollar 26 floor building for just 6 people in his family.
Sure there are those like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who are giving away more than 99% of their fortune away for the good of the world. And they are the people who restore faith in humanity. I hope Ambani will do something similar.

I didn't expect everyone to agree on my response. I didn't hate him; and the strong words like 'wrong mentality' against others who have a different opinion may be the root cause of our problem. I wrote the response because he is posted in sajha and you can read him being featured in many nepali newspapers and may be in other nations' papers too. Perhaps, you could get the reason for our interest from that. I didn't hate him and neither did I ever say not appreciating his lifestyle. It's his money and he has the right to do what he wants. But at the same time, his lifestyle is being discussed in media, and he knows his lifestyle is one of the topic of public's talk these days. I would say, media has portrayed him as a sort of role model. So he holds a lot of power now, not just because he's rich but he's a role model and can inspire many people. I never said he should not have built the house or should not have given the that airbus to his wife. But I just expect to hear less than 0.0001 or even less percentage of that money being given to those poor people of their own country. I hope, he's doing that, and the media just doesn't find it worth of being it in their news. You're right, people get life only once, and they want to live the way they want.
I never knew that one has to be a public servant or jesus christ or politician or social worker to offer helping hands. One needs only need a little bit of space in the heart to help other people. I will never say that I need to be in a certain profession to help the needed ones and will never say, let the poor people die as their fate was written that way.
Everyone doesn't need to start the 'Bill and Gates Foundation', but that's one of the reason I see america being a rich and prosperous nation and has able to attract so many people from around the world.
Few more examples to illustrate from our own country. When some poor people are in real need, rarely the rich people feels the need to help the people. For example, when the poor people from dolpa or jumla need any help, kathmanduites just get away by saying it's their fate or public servants or NGOs have to do for them. But the situation is improving and people are realizing their responsibility to help the needed ones. For example, when kantipur publish the news of some poor children in need, people from all around the places have been generous to pour their help and didn't get away by just saying, it's their fate and it's not my responsibility; I'm glad that we've the people like them. Why the people in america pour the help from all over the states to the people in need? I was glad to hear the news of the gifts and cash vouchers being mailed to one of the black victim of the recent hate crime.
