pakistan are looking down the barrel in this series. with just one game left in the ODI series, there is very little room for the improvement before the all important test series kicks off. they better pull up their socks now and give their everything--a more disciplined effort in the bowling and fielding department to say the least. haven't seen them in so short of confidence faces in a while.

despite being a die-hard pakistan cricket fan, i must admit that india are looking like a better side (in terms of talent) than pakistan-- at least in this series. they are in cloud 9 in confidence. the injection of youth energy in the team has added a lot of vigor in the team and has only done them a world of good.

gone are those days of the devastating bowling spells from the two Ws which actually drew me towards this game and make me fall in love with it....oh well, time changes though--both good and bad.

Loote puppy - Doesn't work when the confidence swirls somewhere in the cloud, gotta keep grounded. dude! LOL

hahaha...looks like someone is in cloud 9 already before the things actually start unraveling for their fav. team..hahaha

well flips, i give the credit to indians for they are playing a better cricket than their arch rival...
having said that, don't forget that they've won this series for the first time in 24 years!...so we've been crushing your heads under our armpits for a long, long time hahahaha

and the test series is yet to start, so pakistan still have opportunities to improve..

btw, i don't quite like this captain shoaib malik..i wonder why they made him the captain. although he is a good player, i don't quite like his approach, which is mostly defensive, towards his game. pakistan had seen some world class captains in the past. he doesn't fit into that coterie...

By the way, it is FIRST TIME IN 24 YEARS in Indian Soil. India Defeated Pakistan in Pakistan in the year 2004.

yeah mysteryman, u're right. but that win in 2004 was first time ever in pakistani soil in 30 odd years hahahaha..

all i am trying to say is, it's ONLY lately-- after pakistan plummeted from their usual standards of talent coz of various reasons one of which is that good/great players retiring from the game--that indians are starting to make their mark against them....else we know the history..it's written by pakis-- the winners

that said, credits should be given to the indians for improving and raising their level of game in the past few years.

I totally agree with LK. Few things matched like the wave frequencies.
I also entered in this world of cricket due to those two great W duo. Not even a nation dared to say "our bowling side is better that theirs" in that period. They destroyed the batsmen, they pulled out the wickets, broke the stumps........devastating....
But here in this stage...
1) Akhtar lacks energy....he's fat
2) Gul and Tanvir...good..but lack experience
3) S. Malik, the captain, is OK....but he is too defensive....(On the other side, DHONI, a young cricketer like Sohaib, is aggresive).......
4) I don't think this is the time to change the captainship...he's OK....but if YES...A CHANGE ..then Y. Khan would be OK.

Even i agree with LK, the charm of bowling has gone down with the retirement of 2 W, but i think Pak team has lots of good players to compete against India (and many other teams), so going down to India in such a manner is really disgusting.

freak alien,
i honestly don't know the answer. but someone who can inject a lot of energy, aggression and positive attitude in the team.

as much as the average, it's very imperative, especially in a one day, for a batsman to have a good healthy strike rate. if we look at the pakistani batting line-up, most of these top-order players with the likes of salman butt, younis khan, mohd. younus, malik or even mishba have their strike rates in the 70's which is no good by today's standards. on the contrary, most of the indians top-order batsmen have their strike rates in 80's and even 90's even after loads of games under their belts. like we saw in the last match, no one in the pakistani team was ready to take any chance and break the shackle against the tight indian bowling and that brought about the setback for them. some amount of  controlled aggression is always very necessary in players to win ODIs.

i would have nominated younis khan but he denied to take the responsibility as a captain for some reason. he would have been the best candidate. mohd. younus is another competitor but he's too religious to be an aggressive captain in the field. i still like him as a player though. so i don't know and that's why pakistan are struggling. perhaps some youngster with a cool head above his shoulder, who can mix his aggression with a thoughtful attitude would be a great find.
