Go to www.usnews.com then follow the link "Education" there you would find a search option where you can select your decided major and the location and every returned search would have some sort of recognition or awards they received of any kind.. Or you can even search by "best engineering school" (don't be lazy and expect people to do that search for you :) ) Best Regards, YekloYatri

Within NYC?
cuny.edu, try city college or citi tech...city college has very good reputation and its cheap comparing to other universities.
Outside NYC? i would consider State uni of NY but not quiet sure which one offers the best programmes(computers).
Also depends how loaded you are

Cooper Union College and Columbia University are among the best. Specially Cooper Union is awesome with engineering. Both of these schools are extremely competitive, so better get started researching on their pre-req. Believe me, getting into these schools will require very hard work.
