ARUN-3 AND GOPAL “CHINTAN”

Today Nepalese people are compelled to spend eight-hours a day without electricity. If the Arun-3 project was constructed 20 years ago, we would not have had to face this load-shedding. During that time, Gopal Siwakoti “Chintan” had appeared as a strong leader to protest against the construction of Arun-3 project. 20 years later, Satjal Corporation, an Indian government undertaking, has come forward to construct the Arun-3 hydropower plant and the very “Chintan” is welcoming the project now. When he protested against the Kaligandaki project, locals had offered him grass to eat, but now the people from Sankhuwasabha are running around New Plaza area in Puttalisadak in search of “Chintan” not to offer him grass, but to extend thanks for his support.

Be that as it may, “Chintan” probably wanted to reward India with the Arun-3 project.
