You know it is beyond sick to read something like this done by a Nepalese man. Unbelievable. As much as women are accessible in this country, I don't understand why one has to resort to this type of action. One thing that I did realize when watching this video is this guy is not a FOB coz he has minimal Nepali accent plus his mannerisms. Well I guess it makes for American authorities to deport him back to his country after such revelation. However my concern is for the nepalese young people. God knows what he is getting away with in Nepal with lack of juridiction on issues such as this. My only plea at this time is that if someone from Nepal reads my post, to report him to the proper authorities because this guy is a plain sicko. God bless.

Syanjali. I am shocked at your non-chalant response. What would you do if this guy was doing what he attempted with your own sibling or your child? I think it is apparent that this guy needs some phsycological help. You DO NOT have or try to have sex with an underage. It is a sin.

anamika1 ji                                                                                                                                                    I understand your frustation and anger ove this guy but these days, patriotism is judged whether you support your fellow country or not, even if it's a case like this. To be defiant and to be able to stand againt crime, corruption and sins committed by friends, family, and Nepali in this case, is considered NOT being Nepali. I've seen this behaviour growing more momentum due to political situation in Nepal and many ignorant/false beliefs.

I'm with you, somebody needs to report this guy in Nepal. Nepali Laws is incapable to do anything, but social awareness among the neighbourhood, wherever he lives, should be stepped up. Personally I think he should have be incarcerated for life in Nepal right after he arrived at the airport. It's a huge humilation, personally and culturally.

From Wikipedia:

Louis William "Bill" Conradt, Jr. was a district attorney in Texas. He became inextricably linked to Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator, a TV series documenting sexual predator stings, after he committed suicide when a SWAT team entered his house, with Dateline cameras recording the action. The incident occurred November 5, 2006.

Events and reaction

Among the numerous stings that To Catch a Predator and Perverted-Justice conducted, Conradt's was unique in that the show's producers and police decided to go to Conradt's home. In other cases, To Catch a Predator lured suspected sexual offenders with an actor or actress pretending to be a child, into a home that was wired with cameras and surrounded by police. Conradt had apparently declined the actor's offers and subsequent phone calls.

Conradt's death prompted criticism of the show, already attacked by some on the legal and journalistic profession for breaking down the walls between the press and the police. A year after the incident, national magazines Rolling Stone and Esquire published articles attacking To Catch A Predator. Esquire obtained raw footage of the incident that contradicted Dateline's and host Chris Hansen's previous denials of the show's alleged collusion with law enforcement officials.[1]

Hansen did not respond to the Esquire article when the Houston Chronicle asked for comment[2], but deferred to his spokeswoman, who called the idea that Hansen would dictate police action "preposterous."

Perverted-Justice founder Xavier von Erck called the Esquire article fiction.[2] Conradt solicited pictures of "Luke's" penis, and sent pictures purporting to be of his alter-ego.[1]

After two weeks, Perverted-Justice and NBC brought in an actor to play the part of Luke over the phone. For reasons that are still not known, Conradt stopped responding to phone calls and instant messages. It was then that police (and as some in the operation assert, NBC) decided to bring the operation to Conradt's home in Terrell.

Conradt's alleged MySpace page

According to Perverted-Justice members, content from Conradt's MySpace page began to disappear, leading them to believe that Conradt was covering up his tracks. This played a part in the decision of the authorities (and Dateline, as some allege) to pursue a warrant for Conradt's arrest. Chris Hansen mentioned the disappearing page on his blog and on-air.[3] Esquire writer Luke Dittrich implies that the disappearing page pushed the participants to make an imminent move (according to Texas law, Conradt had already committed a crime by participating in the explicit chats with a purported child).[1]

Later investigation by Esquire revealed that Conradt's page had not been touched for months before the sting. Perverted-Justice members claimed that Conradt had other Myspace pages, but never produced the evidence for such. Chris Hansen later admitted to Esquire that he did not remember actually seeing the page.[4] The detective who wrote the warrants said the alleged Myspace cover-up by Conradt was never mentioned to him.

Legal maneuverings

According to the Esquire article, members from Perverted-Justice faxed the Collin County District Attorney's office, requesting support for an upcoming sting. District attorney John Roach was surprised that the request came from a civilian group rather than the police. Roach told Esquire that he warned Murphy Police Chief Myrick to not deal with Dateline or Perverted-Justice, and that the DA's office "will take no part in the planning or execution of the sting operation."

After midnight on the day of the sting, Murphy Detective Sam Love alleges that Chris Hansen, or someone else from Dateline, called the operation's headquarters and demanded that the police obtain an arrest and search warrant for Conradt. Detective Walter Weiss told Esquire that he was ordered to acquire the warrants by that morning. He finished the warrant at 11 a.m.[1]

The sting

The official participants in the sting included Murphy police and the Terrell Police Department, including Terrell's SWAT team.[1] According to raw footage obtained by Esquire, at least one Dateline cameraman had hidden himself near the Conradt residence door. Chris Hansen and Dateline denied that crew members were on the private property (such an act is illegal). Also in that footage is "Frag," a member of Perverted-Justice, who is seen advising police on what to do next.[1] Chris Hansen denied that Perverted-Justice was present, but recanted when Esquire was able to describe what "Frag" looked like.

The warrants were signed shortly after 2 p.m.[5] By this time, police and Dateline had been on the scene for hours.[1] In fact, Dateline had showed up as long as five hours earlier, and later records showed that neighbors had phoned in suspicious-persons reports.[1]

According to the Esquire account – again, contended by DatelineDateline crewmembers notified police that they observed that a Sunday newspaper on Conradt's doorstep had disappeared, indicating that Conradt was actually home.[1] Later, in an interview with Esquire, Hansen would claim that he did not remember the incident, nor would he characterize anything Dateline did as surveillance for the police.

Using the tip given to them by Dateline, the police made a decision to call in a SWAT team and perform a tactical entry. They feared that Conradt was aware of their presence and was now destroying evidence. The police broke the door's lock and swept through the house. They encountered Conradt in a room. According to the officers' account, Conradt said a variation of "I'm not going to hurt anyone." He then shot himself in the head with a Browning .380 handgun.[1]

Aftermath

The incident immediately brought international attention to the already popular Dateline show. Some of Conradt's friends continued to believe he was innocent of all accusations, and that his sex chats had actually been part of his own operation to net sexual predators (even though he had played the part of the john), or that he knew "Luke" was an adult pretending to be a child.[citation needed]

On June 1, 2007, the Collin County District Attorney's office announced that it would not pursue any of the indictments that To Catch a Predator had netted. Officials from the DA's office believed that cases were riddled with errors. More problematically, it appeared that nearly all of the investigative work had been done by Perverted-Justice and Dateline, with the police only playing the role of the arresting force. In its response, PJ said it had complied with the DA, offered assistance and evidence, but had found the DA to be corrupt and lazy.

Detective Walter Weiss, after the failed sting, resigned from the Murphy Police out of guilt.

Facts from the aired 20 February 2007 episode of To Catch A Predator are being used as part of a $100 million lawsuit by Conradt's sister, Patricia Conradt, against NBC Universal Inc.[6] In March 2008, Patricia overcame a significant hurdle when the Judge in the case agreed to allow her infliction of emotional distress and civil rights claims to be heard by a jury.[6]

ABC News later did an investigation of the incident on its own news show, 20/20 (see To Catch a Predator for more information).[7]

On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Dateline aired the results of the forensic report on Conradt's computer. According to the report, Conradt's "CDs, laptop computers and cell phone all contained pornographic material -- some included child pornography."[8]

On October 3, 2007, the issue was lampooned in an episode of the satirical cartoon South Park.

Well. I believe sometimes this programme itself creates the culprit and level them peadophile. Not all the culprit in this program can be leveled threat to the child. What if this guy is genuinely looking for grown up girls and the thought of having sex with a child only came after the minor girl (which infact is a grown up girl acting in a program) enticed him.

This is a very old story, had lots of discussions already. However, it can be a good information for new comers. Of course one will have a feeling to have sex with girls, this is natural. However some people don't know rules over here that it is illegal to have sex with minors even if it is consensual. Nepal ma ta testo chhaina ni, if both agree, it doesnot matter if you have sex with them.

So katilai thaha hundaina, US aayo ani eta uta ta ali ali lagihalchhan. Since this is the past, it's finished. aba tyo ketalai gali garnu jaruri chhaina, he already got enough punishment. Simply lets hope no one makes the same mistake again. Don't do sex or sexual guffs with minors even if you both are very close friends. That's it, there will be no problem. Aba ahile aayera tyo ketalai kina gali diranu yar.

interpolated american laws! a trap was set ,a clumsy fish was caught and the audiences clapped. a year or two later  some mastercard  picks up the video from somewhere and posts it in sajha without paying a little concern to the clumsy fish and the people associated with him. bravo mr.mastercard!

we are human, and we often make mistakes in life. why to  bring up the issue that has been  settled  long time ago. what's use of digging up the grave again. let him rest in peace.

there is this famous story in bible “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”
once a woman convicted of adultery was brought to Jesus. a crowd gathered  to stone her to death. “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” Jesus said. there were none. it’s more or less the same scenario here.

thou shall put away evil from among us, but definitely not in this way.let us give this stupid guy much needed peace & privacy to bring  his life back to normalcy.  “Go and sin no more .” amen.

Rewire:

Thank you for the support and your kind words. Apparently it is useless to express your voice in this site coz the essence of the posting is lost in transition. It seems like you and I are a minority here to think the way we do. However it troubles me deeply to read the ignorant postings of some in regard to the lewd act of this guy.  The vast implications and possible psychological scarrring of the innocent victims is huge and can affect their immediate loved ones plus their future family for years. I realize that most of the people who visit this site are presently living in the USA but they seem to be unaffected by this guy's actions. Is it coz of ignorance or of denial?

Yes I hear you you what are saying about having support for your fellow citizens. But I personally believe that one becomes a citizen of the world once you have left your motherland.  Yes I do have unlimited loyalty and love for my motherland and for those poor and unpriveleged people back home. Hopefully I will be fortunate in life to be able to contribute to the upliftment of these people but I will never in this lifetime condone this type of act. It is time to acknowledge it and address it so that more young people do not fall victim to this type of acts. I think it would be fair on the part of the sick person as well for getting appropriate help or penalties so they can move on with his/her life.

One thing I do want to state is that some people expressed that this event is past and bygone. Some also stated that he has paid the price for his actions by being deported. However nobody knows how long this person had been carrying on with this type of behaviour and too, that he just happened to be caught this time. It necessarily does not confirm that this was the first time he attempted something like this. Another thing is .... some sajha basi said that it is illegal in America but it is not illegal in Nepal. So does that mean it is ok to carry on such a inhuman act in Nepal and hurt your deshbasi just coz you are not going to be prosecuted for it?

Think about it.

PS. I am not interested in what happened with Dateline or the folks involved this TV show. This is stricly in terms of this type of guys who are so selfish and embarass us other Nepalese people who are honest and very work hard to make our living. Amen.

I completely agree with the stand and viewpoint of Anamika on the Dateline issue, and I hope anyone with a broader civic sense of being a human would not disagree with her. I am not arguing that I do not harbor the naughtiness inside me, I do at times, and I guess that's a part of being a human being. If anyone argues s/he don't, it will be hard for me to believe because I personally think that to be such, one needs to be a stone. But, there is a huge difference in harboring naughtiness within oneself, and commiting a crime/sin as such. We of course are fallible human beings and at times would do bads, but again, a crime is more than a bad. The goods and bads on someone depend on how one percieve them; as some of our bads might not be percieved badly by some people and some of my goods might not be percieved goodly by some people; but again, there is no margin to shuffle the perception one way or the other in acts as such; it's straightforward, and unacceptable at any cost.
