What part of Bay Area?

We can live in any part of bay area where public transportation is available, more on

place where there is more nepalis like oakland etc etc dont know much about bay area ,

Bay area is not that small place, and public transportation is not so good here.Even if you have your own vehicle, you probably dont want to spent $4/gallon or even more to commute. However, I have been living here for almost 2 years and I really love this place.

 I highly suggest you to narrow down you search area and please avoid staying in areas like Okland and Hayward.. if you can ! It's  the hottest crime area... though rent is relatively cheap in these places. There are a lot nepali everywhere in Bay Area, if you attend one or two parties you will have enough friends.

If you are  two sisters, you better search in craiglist and rent a bedroom or studio.. whatever you plan too in the nearest location where you work or study.

Oh yea, the rent is too high righ now due to forclosure... problem.. as demand for the apartment is high. So be ready to pay somewhere around $1000 for studio and around $1300 for single bed room apartment.

but as soon as we come there we need a place to live in

we are planning to look a room near linclon college

and i have heard there are lot of nepalis in oakland so it will be easier to get a job if any of them help us

spending 1300 by two of us will be too much for us but if we get room for sharing then it would be fine

Seems you are trying to study at Lincon College, but believe me you'll regreat it later. I had two of my frens who studied there, and quit in the middle. So, if you are coming to study there, please talk to people who knows about that school more, just to make sure you time, money and effort is not wasted ! You can ask suggestion in sajha forum too. I had seen few guys who were from that part.

If you are not comong for Lincon school, then thats fine. Yes, there are lot's of nepalese in Okland side, but since I live on the other part of bay  area, I don't know anyone personally. But still I guess, you'll get an affordable apartment there, keep on checking on craiglists. There is a apt share and sublet or sublease section, you can check there, as there are many people looking to share apartment. You can stay for some time with the one you think is reliable and later once you get to know Nepali people you can move wiht them..!

If you girls are joining lincon university i guess fremont, alameda or oakland would be better coz of Bart service that goes to lincon university....otherwise public transportation is kind a slow since bay area lack trains and bart like in other major city of US. Fremont and Alameda  area is loaded with indians and nepali so it would be lot easier for u girls to find job in fremont area which is relatively safer than alameda and Oakland.

Oakland is safe. I don't understand why people catagorize Oakland as one of the crime-ridden cities. It's just outrageous. I see Oakland as a city of diverse people and sound public transportation. In comparision to San Francisco, Oakland is far more better for students in terms of community colleges, jobs, affordable apartments, free health services and public transportation.

Okland is striving to get qualified police officers, as people are not willing to work there. There is still an incentive program going on for  the officers that are hired there, in order to encourage, while there are very less such provisons in other parts of bay area.

People rally a lot in Okland to make it crime free and there are lots of homiside in that too. Police were asked to petrol during the Church hours as there were many shootings just outside the church, while the victim were coming  for praying. Anyone living in Bay area and following  the news definately knows Okland is on of the most crime area. Just follow http://www.ktvu.com/crimeandpunishment/index.html for few days or watch KTV channel 2 news at 10pm. It almost reports homoside everyday and almost always in bay area.

About, diversity, job, I guess all of the part of Bay Area or even say California is equally good, Okland is definately no exception.

Just wanted to make aware about the place to the girls, as they are coming from next state ( probably I guess as their writing suggests)
