Hi,
My backgound check for emploment in a bank has taken more than three (calendar) weeks. The company conducting it says it normally takes this much time for Nepal. All they are trying to do is establish I have a physical residence in KTM by talking to my parents who is residing in the address I have provided for background check. However, they did not ask for any phone number or email address in the form I submitted. I am guessing that they would find out themselves as part of the b/g check.
Does anybody know how long it normally takes for this sort of check? Note that this is not employment verification, which is done separately. This is just residence verification as far as I understood. Also, appreciate if you could share some insights on how do they conduct the check. I have heard that some take help from the Embassy and some go through private agencies that specialize on such work. Any additional information to help expedite the b/g check process is welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Dude.
When I got a job in a company over here they did a background check for
me, I think especially it was basically with my previous employer and
they did it with in a week.
As my previous employer later called me and confirmed me that someone
from US has called them and asked them about my employment history.
I don't know they called in police department for background check or not??
And I had submitted my employer full address and phone and fax number

Thanks for your early response dd_sh. Well I wish I were lucky like you! All they need to do is to pull the number from the Nepal Telecom website, which provides free directory service, and verify my residence and whatever they want ....but I guess they have to follow their own procedure to do that...and with the election and vote counting going on they probably couldn't get it done as planned - or they deliberately postponed it for some time. From what I understand it should not take so much time. I wish I knew how those companies do the background check in Nepal.
