Daamn, look at these stupid nepali journalists , they are like Fish marchent at fish Bazar.

Nepal betrayed to it's own history...... There's no doubt that he's the most patriotic and democratic figure in the contemporary Nepal. One can imagine how big heart he has. I don't have words to hate these people who humiliated him on the basis of rumours..... Hope, history will be written without unfair biasness.

King Gyanendra, you will always remain as king in our hearts...........

A good speech nonetheless where he tackled the allegations against him head-on. I found myself disagreeing with some of his claims but found it  refreshing to hear him drop the royal "we" and defend himself with a good deal of passion.

My best wishes to citizen Gyanendra and his family. It's a new beginning for them and the country.

KATHMANDU, Nepal (CNN) -- Nepal's former king said Wednesday he is not going to leave his country even though the monarchy has been abolished.

Ex-King Gyanendra, 60, made remarks to reporters before departing the Narayanhiti royal palace in Kathmandu.

He will live as a civilian in the former Himalayan kingdom that was made a republic last month, and he will reside in a summer palace on a forested hilltop outside the capital.

A few hundred journalists crammed into the opulent palace's lobby entrance to hear Gyanendra's remarks. It was a chaotic and undeferential scene replete with pushing, shoving and scuffling -- even while the former monarch was speaking.

While the former king spoke, reporters looked around at the lavish furnishings, including a huge crystal chandelier, stuffed tigers, stuffed rhino heads mounted on the walls and paintings of previous monarchs.

Gyanendra, who expressed his "love" for "independent Nepal," said all of his property will remain in the country and that he has no property outside the nation.

"I have no intention or thoughts to leave the country," he said. "I will stay in the country to help establish peace."

The monarchy's end after 239 years of rule was the culmination of a two-year peace process in which Maoist insurgents in Nepal gave up their armed struggle, joined mainstream politics and won the most seats in April's election for the Constituent Assembly.

The assembly is tasked with rewriting the constitution, deciding the country's future political system and governing the nation.

Gyanendra, who noted that the country is going through a "serious" stage now, said he accepts the new reality of a republic and reflected on the actions of the monarchy.

"I have done all I can to cooperate with (the government's) directives," he said, and added that "the monarchy in Nepal has always been with the people of Nepal in good times and bad times."

Gyanendra came to power in 2001 when his brother, King Birendra, and his family were massacred in the palace by the crown prince, who later shot himself. Gyanendra on Wednesday denied rumors that he had played a role in that event.

The ex-monarch also discussed events of 2005, when he he took over the civilian government to take on the Maoist insurgency, an unpopular move that sparked protests. He said he hopes people "understand" he didn't intend to infringe on any of the rights of the people.

He left the palace by a side entrance with pro-royalists and pro-republicans gathered outside to see his departure. His car had to stop momentarily as journalists took pictures of him.

Gyanendra's royal scepter and a crown of peacock feathers, yak hair and jewels remain in the palace and have been handed over to the government.

I am glad to see X king leaving palace.... Wow now what is going to happen Next? Is Country is under terrorists control? Is this guy going to rule country?

I found the speech consolidating and trying to defend his position against the rumours of his hands in killing the previous king and the members of royal family. It was so bothering to hear the background noise. Our journalist do not follow simple code of conduct, why they simply shut their mouth off when he was giving the speech. Our whole journalism sector should take the responsibility. They should train these bhuiphutte so called journalist towards professionalism..

The take home message of his speech, at leas I found was: He will be vigourously watchful to the activities of the parties in the days ahead. If parties do not change their attitude and working style, I bet he will come back to politics and collect all the sympathies of the Nepali people. So political parties, it is your responsibility to bring change, there won't be any thing to blame now on except yourselves if you act like now. These parties have even not able to come up with the common understanding/program to form the new government and draw policies...

Gyane's speech sounds like a romanticized version of Michael Corleone's statement at the Senate Hearing which read as follows :

Late king birendra had vowed not to return to active politics after he was treated the same way after the 2046 movement. I hope he won't do the same ... coz we will need people like him to fall back to if these stupid so called politicians fail to deliver what they've promised us... And looking at what they've done for the past 2 years after getting the power back, I don't expect much from them either...

In this fight between rajtantra and ganatantra, I dont know who won... but one thing is for sure... general nepali people are the sole losers

 

it takes a lot of courage and character to accept the truth with grace. king gyanendra's name, because of his nefarious role, will go down in history as the most unpopular/disliked figurehead ever in modern nepal  but gyanendra, the person, will be remembered by some (myself including) as a courageous person who's able to take the hit from the reality and come out unscathed (assuming he's gonna live a normal happy life of a citizen hereafter).

I will say hands down no doubt I am a total rajabadi... This is our history this is something that has been part of us. Its very sad to see the kind leave the palace. Although he became king under different circumstance that is another topic where I can go against him for days.

I think he would not see this day if he had planned out everything properly.. The greatest mistake was his first batch of ministers. I know and heard ppl say this after that day even ppl supporting him turned their back around.

Another mistake he tried to micro manage Nepal. May be you are a great businessman, but comeon this is a country you have to macro manage for it.. Few incidents I recall.. Wastington DC conference about Nepal. Nepalese representative shows up late with no pen and paper handy, while the interview is going on they talk to each other and the time its done they don't know what they were talking about and simply answered to the question - "Do you have any concerns?" As NO SIR... 2nd incident Kings US visit the palace authority sends letter to the us and the mailing address is listed as ---------@hotmail.com.. Are you kidding me.

You had to bring in ppl who were not afraid of you and say 'your majesty you are wrong and this is what the public wants, but you had bunch of head shakers around you agreeing with what you were doing and they were happy in reporting what you wanted to hear and not the fact.

Finally Nepalese patrakar (in this video) you have no respect for anyone. I wished some security personnel were there and say oyee ****** chup lag...

The country is gone down the drains... An old history and tradition can only be read about now, and King Gynendra, you will be the topic of the discussion. SLC or +2 or perhaps history exams will have a 20 points question discussing you innocence or your guilt changing the history of Nepal.
