We are planning to build one storey house back in Nepal with 3-5 rooms. My parents asked me if there is any specific model or style i want.I prefer small houses with garden, lanes to big storey buildings. So,i would be really grateful if u guys will share ur knowledge and tips on building appropriate house.
Can anyone please post some of the sample maps of houses suitable in case of Nepal or anyway i can get some maps on internet??

hey there,

I like your concept...I want to say something here...This was my idea of a house but I have a long long way to go...If you have a big land then donnot fence it or anything..try to build something that looks like a  typical nepali house but stronger : )....over here in America there are some houses that are called log houses and they are just gorgeous(try google and see the images)..since we have enough wood in Nepal that shouldn't be a problem for ya'...From the inside decorate the house with all them wierd things we find back there like corn, garlic etc...I hope you understand what I mean...but U should have all the facilities...I hope with these descriptions you can picture the house you want to build...but this is my plan once I go back which is like 5 more years...lol..depending upon ur budget u can add other facilities like theatre room with projector which is like 500$ here in america and other stuffs like taht...good luck and congrats...

grokhali,   dude that a good idea,I never thought about that. But the problem is,mah parents r building the house n i m in US now.so,i donn think they will be ready for this style.Another thing,if u wanna build this kind of house make sure u r in Nepal most of the time.U need to make sure everthing is going towards right direction.
My parents r building the primary residence so i donn think they will go for it.BTW,i m thinking of building that kind of house when i go back. Thanks for sharing !!!

Check the website of civil homes. They have some impressive layout. You can probably choose one and base your design on that.

Dear Gorkhali,

The role model for the dream house is awesome (dami lagdii). This is what I dream about, (paisa cha bhane, natra its ok) ghar ke banaunu, banayo bhane yesto banauni parcha. Gorkhali (part) do you have any idea how much it is going to cost, just a rough estimate, I mean your thoughts.

Guys if you can tell, people like me who don't have any idea regarding architects, plans etc, what they should do. Engineers and architects in Darjeeling is too expensive.

Sorry la Syd Acid it was your dhaago but even I have the same plan in near future. I am going to built myself rather than depending others, which might not be possible in your case. I can only suggest you to provide plans which might be helpful if you want to change some settings in future.

Good luck and thanx guys for providing very useful information.

Jai gorkha jai gorkha.....Gorkhaland!!!

alik saro bro,
I did a little research on this and talked to the parents..If you just wanna build the outside and do the inside it's gonna be around 8 million rupees..the estimate can be little off, either way but it is just a rough estimate...and about the decoration and everythin use can spend as much as u can afford..but basic facilities should be a home theatre system(try best buy for this), some good furnitures and so on...but just for the house and basic needs just to live in it 8 million rupees will be my guess..
