Got in mail. A nice one.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.

They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?"asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. 

Tell me, if God exists,would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?"asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber.And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Believe me guys, I started this thread as a joke. I never was/ NOT and will never be THAT serious about God. But I like the discussion. I will try to answer JediMaster from home with my view. Hehe

Someone said "It is a matter of faith." That says it all.

How is soul defined? Who possesses souls? Do all animal possess souls? How about microscopic organisms? How about an ant? A cocroach, a bee, a flea, a worm? If only humans possess soul how do you explain the population growth? Lot of times religion is only a way to pacify the mind that there is a reason for all this and not just some meaningless chance. A meaningless chance when two people met because one decided to wait for the next bus or something of that sort. They make love on different days, if the union had been on tuesday, the child would have been someone else. If the sexual union was on some other day then the child would be someone else.
Nobody wants to believe that they are not part of a grand design supervised by the great one himself. I mean why would they, they grow up in a social cocoon. Their vision gets marred by manmade institutions of marriage, love, and meaningful existence. Step back few hundred thousand years ago when the first homo sapiens existed. They were only animals needing food and shelter. The sun the all powerful entity was their god because it was inexplicable. They developed language and some smart ones decided to rule over the less smart ones by pretending to have knowledge of the bigger meaning in life. These were the first priests that ruled the homo sapiens.

you do not have to "beg" to differ just because you think that we differ. First of, I dont think we differ even a bit. We might have different ways of approacing, but the destination is the same. You might realize God differently than I do and that is all. The main point is we both realize God, so, we do not differ. Also, first faith and trust has to come into somebody and then only the person can further strengthen belief in God through different means including by going through scriptures, stories, Gita, and so on. I get answers to different questions and realize many forgotten things by going through these Holy scriptures. You might have a different opinion. Even though we were different, it is our birth right to freedom and to think and decide to whatever we believe as long as it does not harm others. Religion is also freedom and the path to happiness and end of suffering, if followed properly and realized accuratetly. By going through the Ramayana and the deeds of Lord Sri Ram, I have firm belief that true religion is more like a democracy where all the rights of people are well protected and there is freedom to every thing as long as it does not harm others, but sad that it has been twisted by some people for their personal benefit.

The sentence "I beg to differ" was an attempt to show respect to people who share views different than mine. The word "beg" has no literal meaning at all and it's a phrase I use most commonly whenever I enter a discussion. I m sure most of others do as well.

I don't believe in God. However, I am not an atheist. Atheism is a different religion altogether.

I read  long time ago " If you have  faith, you can move the mountain. It's not about moving the mountain, it's about having the faith."
The existence of god is nothing but the result of faith. As a Nepali adage goes ' Worshiping a dirty stone makes it god.' So, its the matter of faith. We can be on any side. I can't disprove the existence of God- an undaunting task as compared to proving otherwise.

Alright, Let me cut the crap here.

I wonder how do we have existence of life in this earth? I wonder why scientists become joyous just to find that trace of ice in Mars but we have in abundance here in earth ? I wonder why the earth is distanced so delicately from the Sun..that if it's a bit closer we will burn to death and if it's a bit farther we all will freeze to death ? I wonder why science can do everything but can't inject life ? I wonder where life comes from ? I wonder where feelings like love and compassion come from ?

So I believe there is an almighty that is there. BUT WE HUMANS ARE EXTREMELY IGNORANT..OUR KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY IS VERY LIMITED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT ALMIGHTY IS .

honestly, i am satisfied with all that I know, however limited it may be.

Every religion interprets god in their own way.

To me, god is not about seeking help, about seeking explanations, about whining, about complaining. I don't care what god looks like and where he/she resides.

But I m thankful to him for everything I have bcoz of the almighty, whoever it may be. There is nothing like give and take thing for me. I feel god when I am in love, I feel god when I have compassion, I sense god in that innocence smile of a child, I see god in nature, in music, in everything. I make no demands to god..nor do I complain..I just respect god, love god and the ultimate pooja I can do to god is by becoming a better person, by treating others with respect and by forgiving others and spreading the message of love and peace around me. I can only care less about churches, temples and mosques.

AS I SAID, I AM TOO IGNORANT TO KNOW ABOUT GOD..HOW MANY THINGS U KNOW R IN THE WORLD THAT R BEYOND LOGICAL EXPLANATION ?

I believe in all religions, all faiths, bcoz the last thing I care is segregation due to religious faith.

Why there is suffering ? Why there is pain ? I don't know. I don't seek god's help or explanation there.  I think it's part of life and we have to face it should we choose to live.

 माथि एक साथि ले कर्म को कुरा लेर्याउनु भयो तर म त्यो कुरा मा बिश्वास गर्दिन । यदि त्यो कुरा हो भने माहाभारत मा पाँच पान्डब  किन बन गए त ? राम्रा कर्म गर्नेलाइ  भगवान ले हेर्ने हो भने। अनि भगवान क्रिष्ण ले सत्यबादि युधिष्टिर लाइ किन झुट बोल्न लगाउनु भयो  तथापि सबै लाइ थाहा छ झुट बोल्नु पाप हो भन्ने । कि कहिले काँहि बोलेको झुट माफ हुन्छ ?

God don’t exist. It is just a story created by people from the past to make a child sleep at night, take control of the power (posing as a god) or for getting something done for themselves. Let me give you an example from our so-called story of GOD. Many of you might have watched or read about the “Baraha” avatar of bishnu, it is an avatar that looks like a wild boar. He, to save the earth from two monsters, takes the earth and hides it under the ocean. But the creator/ writer of this story forgot one thing – the ocean is on earth. Another example, a recent one- Many Nepalese people believed that Late king Birendra was an incarnation of the lord Bishnu, but you know what happened.

God is something that is put in our mind- To lift our hopes, that there is something out there who will help us, if we do good things. To make us scare of doing wrong things. But in reality, people who do believe in god are killing people in the name of god. So, don’t waste your precious time for GOD.

Doctors and scientist had proved all previous logics as false. Cloning, and not GOD is creating life in this new world. Computers and technologies, not GOD is helping our life become easier and simple.

I don't believe in GOD, do you think you should?   ……..Think again.

Soul is something that evolves within yourself when you become able to recognize and acknowledge your existence with respect to your surroundings. The people around you, the environment, and even the physical entities present around you play role in constructing your soul. I think a soul unknown by the bearer is nonexistent. Our soul grows with our age and the more you educate it, the more it becomes vibrant and outspoken to you. It gives you sense of right or wrong, your safety, and even enables you understand about time. Because, time, is the most important of all. Because if you don’t understand time, you are more likely to interfere with other’s soul and that becomes the reason behind your well/ill being.

    How can you prove that God does not exit?? You can give your own reasoning, the one that you use to convince yourself that God does not exit. Which is fine but likewise no one can prove to you that God exists. You have to  do your own homework. For example I cannot prove it to you that God exists but rest assured I have proved my self that God exists. Just like when someone takes a unique food that experience cannot be transposed nor transformed. If someone wants to taste that unique food one has to try oneself to get the same experience.
    You speak of Science, Genetics, Cloning and computers and say that because these technologies exist that's why God does not exist!! Think again on how this reasoning can hold ground by analyzing your own statement.
    I have worked very closely with the best world class scientists; in the genetics industry but you will be suprised to know that almost all of them including the top scientists are devout believers of their own religion. I have had numerous discussions with them on the belief (of God) and where they stand. I also want to let you know that I am an Engineer and work with computers day-in-day-out. Profession has nothing to do with the belief that you hold rather it is the choice we make.
    It is a philosophical  matter on how we see the miseries of the world and the difficulties in life, I would like to quote one scientist when we talked about the same thing "it is not meant to be easy"

Actually there is not enough evidence to claim either god exist or doesn't exist. The miracle will be resulted out if we believe in either of these beliefs. If god doesn't exist then who created this whole universe with this huge tremendouos energy. If it created itself then how could it be possible with the theory of physics. Energy neither be created nor be destroyed. At least at the beginning someone must have created this universe. Who created then?? Is it god or someone else??? Because it can't be created by itself.

Human being has to suffer in this world due to his own intelectual capability. The pain and suffering in the human life is directly proportional to the desire. The desire is the root cause for the human suffering. It never gives you the peace in mind. If we follow the one statement of geeta i think our life will be better."Karma gara tara phal ko asha nagara."

What i mean to say is if we don't believe in god we have to suffer more and our life will be more devastating.

 

 

 

 

My thoughts on God ..........God is such a Huge power an entity that our Brains cannot understand.....God is like the space and the mystry that cannot be solved. The universe is too huge and and information it has is too much for our brains to comprehend. But god understands us because for him we are all predictable and he gave us enough knowledge just to understand him the best way our puny human brains can relate. We forget the power of will and the right to choose. Choice makes a lot of difference how you see the world and choose how you want to live your life, choices one makes dictates how his or her life goes on. God is a spiritual belief for me, its like a safe spot in my heart that I resort to for strength and peace. I am not religious so I dont believe in religion but Im very spiritual and believe that there is a greater source of power beyond our brains capacity to grasp or mordern science to even try to explain. I am contend with my own defination and knowledged of what I precieve to be GOD and I respect everyones choice to see God in their own ways, because God did give us the will to choose. As for non believers or Athiests, their life is as speculative as everyones life is...........ITS JUST CHOICE........is it right or wrong??? GOD KNOWS.....but we are no one to judge.
