hey i was in troy University a year and half ago ....i am not sure the things that i know are up to date or not..many things might have changed...
Its a good School and the environment (air) is very good ....its kinda hot in early fall but it doesnot take too long to get freaking cold....one should take enough clothes to protect from cold....summers are hot.....the school is full of trees and squirrells(more than people and students)
Its a haven for students from all countries......especially a lot of Nepalese...when I was there the number was 104 (around) so we are pretty big there.....we have Nepalese Association and actually have many cultural programs like dashain tihar .....its a big thing there....
there is a less chance that you get any on campus jobs ......so people usally go there for the first sem and then transfer.....so the number of nepalese is always dynamic...and SS# is really really hard to get
when taking bread and butter.....Troy is not a big city its a suburban area with limited desi people and to find the desis we usually go to bigger cities like Montgomery (18 miles approx) from troy or may be Dothan ....So kaam pauna lai garo chha especially you need to have a car or share a ride..and since you have many of us there is a lot of competition......and before you go please learn driving at least a month in nepal...you really need to learn it.....there is a history of accidents and in one of them my friend died last year........
there are lot of housing options at troy.....students can chuse to live off campus in apartments which range from 375+ dollars per month (not sure how much now) and its kinda cheap......and the first thing that a newcomer should do is to contact any seniors living there and they would help like i got the help from my seniors.....
so this is most i can throw into as far as info is concerned......if need more details add up this thread
MUNDRE!!
