Miss Nepal 2008 show suspended

The organisers of the national beauty pageant, who managed the event last year without hindrances from Maoist ministers, have said the Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2008 has been postponed temporarily due to pressure from Maoist parliamentarians.

The final show of the event was planned for today.

The Hidden Treasure, which has been organising the show since its inception 15 years ago, also said discussion with the Maoist leaders is underway to convince them that the pageant show was not meant for using women as advertising materials or objects of entertainment.

The organisations affiliated to CPN (Maoist), front runner being All Nepal Women Organisation (Revolutionary), have been objecting the event alleging it to be an anti-women event inspired by capitalists.

i have negative impression with this program so called 'miss nepal' beauty contest.

by chance i got to talk with a girl who was participated in that program. i told to her how was experience? she said sadly "ke bhannu dai bibhinna charan par gardai janda yeuta session thiyo hotel hyat ma tyaha one by one pratek participants le interview dinu parne re nepalko celebrity 'Bhuwan KC' sanga. teha bhuwan kc le ke bhanyo thaha chha dai 'ma sanga yek raat bitaune bhaye 100 number guarantee ke bichar chha? "

now think about it ! would you like to sent your sister/doughter for miss nepal ?

there are many steps to do correction in our society, it can't do over night. similarly this case is likely "NAKHMAI JHINGA" dhapaunata paryo hainara?

beauty contest is not too bad itself, but how they are doing that's the matter!!! isn't it ?

There is no beauty contest included in the Common Minimum Program. CMP only has allowances for some prostitution, dancing, itsy-bitsy exploitation of Nepali women at home and abroad. However, extermination of rich folks like Bhuwan KC is included, albeit in small numbers and subtle ways. So, there is some leeway to get back at  BKC for asking that question. Get a Maoist devoted to the revolution to fix him, after getting BKC to denounce, implicate and humiliate himself in public as the enemy of the people and the revolution!

Heavy production of steel and crops also is included in the CMP. Production of steel will be limited to having melting stations in your backyard, where you will melt all the steel utensils you have. Why? To produce steel, you reactionary questioner!

Been reading up on the atrocities (and astounding cruelty and stupidity)of Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot... so... please excuse the sarcasm!

Yes ofcourse! If I had a daughter I'd definately make her participate. If nothing...she'd go, break Bhuwan kc's nose and come!!!.

I know 2 different people who have finished inside top 5 in last two Miss Nepal Pagent pagents.
Both being very close to me, I asked them how was the pagent to them???
Both of them said there is nothing like what its sound like outside. Both of them said, its just rumor and a way to defame,
I have nothing against such pagent. However, I do not deny that there could be people like Bhuwan KC and Bill Clinton as a judge.

i for one don't want to fall for those rumors either...

anyways, i know i am partly sad as i genuinely believe that these sorts of contests help aspiring young beauties/models to hone and showcase their talent which otherwise would be a lot more difficult and challenging for them. ...that said, a part of me always cringe to watch them models answer questions in the judge's round and few others where they are required to act entirely on their brain.

Judge: "So what would you do if you were to made the Prime Minister of Nepal for a day?"

(and i feel like putting some cotton in my ears right away as i know next 2 minutes or so is going to be a torture)

Contestant: "Yedi malai ek din ko lagi nepal ko prime minister banaune ho bhane ma...ma....ummm..ma....ummm....ummm...ma....hehe(nervous laugh)....ummm.....ekdamai khusi hunechu. dhanyabaad!"

(and not to mention the audience ( which are aliens straight from 'freak' streets for the most part) whistling and hooting..bokas after pokas hahaha ..ogling at the contestants..like they've been presented sex dolls after years of sexual starvation .. hahahahaha ).

Come culture does NOT see the imminent danger of small things, like the expression of freedom, being taken away until it is too late. We better go back and live in caves, if such small things are made into priority, instead of things like security, economy and prosperity. Any fool can learn from their mistake but the wise ones learn from other people's mistake.

as a person who has taken part in beauty pagent. i dunno frm where ppl hear stories like wht ziyo is saying. it is not true. there was so many people and u never have to do individual interviews.

and  as u know if ppl say things like that to u in nepal, dai, baba uncle mama, aunty ama milera tyo bagiya lai peti hanchan ni.

miss nepal doesnt mean jo pai tehi lai je pai tehi bhancha ani aru manche haru chahi chup la lagera sahera basu parcha ki kya ho. most grls who participate in miss nepal are pretty bold have an opinion and when they r being treated unfairly they would speak up and most of them come from families who are supporting their decisions. so trust me nothing like that happens in miss nepal.

as for not having miss nepal at all i am very disappointed. we are moving backwards in our society and i think all the young generations women should go out there and protest against all these old ladies who didnt have an opportunity to showcase their beauty and talent and now they want to stop other from doing it too.

havent heard a good reason as to why miss nepal shouldnt continue. other than rumors, assumptions etc.
