The writing was on the wall since a long while back (if you ask me), but it feels great to hear it officially on CNN. I am writing this thread just to be a part of this historic, historic victory by an UNDERDOG so that I could come back and see this thread on sajha after 50 years. Cheers to all my sajha friends :D). We've finally seen the promise land! Party's on ;P!

Rosa sat so Martin could march. Martin marched so Obama could run. Obama ran so Loote could watch history on CNN and weep (and then start a thread on Sajha about it)
Congratulations to you my dear friend and all the others on this thread and elsewhere who waited long for this.

wow...thank you all for dropping by. Looks like everyone is FIRED UP and READY TO GO!!! ;P
I see Obama's victory as the win of optimists over pessimists;
hopeful-romantics over hopeless- cynics/doubters (some of them are here
in sajha too); bright over dark; half-full over half empty; energy over
lethargy; youth over old (as in ideas/moves), innovations over
stagnancy ; invention over malfunction; construction over
destruction.....
Obama is inspiration. Obama is energy. Energy to move forward. With a
long stride. Towards a better place. Where there is no dearth of love.
No war too. All peace...and love; peaclovers and lovemakers
Obama means zeal. Obama is gusto. The postive force. Obama is work. Obama brings success.
Obama is sunshine in rain; water in desert; food in famine; gray matter in brain.
Obama is viagra. 30+. Obama brings "vibrancy" in old ...
Obama is I. Obama is you. Obama is WE. We are Obama. Together We can. Yes We can!
(...arrgghhh...before i become too poetic (in a hopeless way)...i'll save you the torture and stop here ;D)
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And wow!!! look look...the veteran is back as well !! :D...pleasure to
see you here bud :)...I had to take my day off yesterday..too much of
partying hehe >>:P...
BTW, You were sorely missed, "my friend"! Suffice it to say this place
lacks in quality and humility without your charming presence! :P.... If
you must know, rumor has it that few girls were so disappointed and
dejected by your absence that they committed suicide re (virtually!!
hahaha). They were last heard saying: "Sajha's lackluster without the
charm of the megastar captain haddock!!" My my, such is your charm my
friend :D..thought i should let you know, if you don't know it already
:P hahaha.. hope all's well. :)

Poonte -
I guess I assumed all Obama supporters had gone deaf in the ear by now listening to that quote. So I thought I could play with the words in it like I could with something as common place as say "Four scores and seven years ago" without having to credit Abraham Lincoln. Maybe I assumed too much.
Here is what I know about the quote. The full quote (or the most common version of it) is : "Rosa sat so Martin could walk, Martin walked so Obama could run, Obama ran so our children can fly". Google couldn't tell me who it can be attributed to but I first heard it on TV.
And mubarak to you too!
Loote -
What has your friend in the White House been upto? Check this out:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/11/06/first-dog-takes-a-bite-at-white-house-reporter/
Posted: 10:37 PM ET
From CNN's Kathleen Koch and Erika Dimmler
A happier Barney, with President Bush.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — President-elect Barack Obama's
daughters have been promised a puppy for the White House — President
Bush's dog, Barney, demonstrated his technique for dealing with the
media Thursday…sinking his teeth into Reuters TV White House
correspondent Jon Decker.
Call it a case of biting the hand that covers you.
First Dog Barney and his handler were out on the front lawn for a walk when Reuters' Decker and another reporter approached.
"He looked very nice and friendly," says Decker. "I bent down to pet him and he just snapped at me."
Decker holds up his right index finger, now sporting two band aids.
The First Dog's teeth punctured the skin and Decker started bleeding,
so he was sent to see presidential physician, Dr. Richard Tubb. Tubb
gave Decker a two- to three-day supply of antibiotics, and told him to
come back Friday for a tetanus booster.
"I don't know what he did, but apparently Barney didn't like it,"
says April Ryan, White House correspondent for American Urban Radio
Network, who captured the entire incident on her Flip video camera.
Decker insists he didn't provoke Barney, and that in fact he's good
with Scottish terriers. Decker's mother's dog, Fergus, came from the
same New Jersey breeder.
"I don't know what set him off," says Decker. "Maybe it was the
Republican debacle Tuesday night, the fact that soon he'll be replaced
as America's first dog or that I happened to have bacon for breakfast."
President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have promised
to get their daughters, Malia and Sasha, a puppy when they move into
the White House.
Sally McDonough, press secretary to First Lady Laura Bush, points
out that Ryan commented the biting incident is very unlike Barney.
"I think it was his way of saying he is done with the paparazzi,"
says McDonough. "I've talked to Jon and he is being a good sport about
it all and well, Barney is in the White House Dog House."
"He was just in a surly mood this morning," surmises Decker.
Adam Goldfarb, an 'Issues Specialist' on dangerous dogs and dog
bites, had his own take on the matter after viewing the incriminating
video.
'I think what happened is two things were going on– one is that
nobody was picking up on the dog's stress. Watching the video, the
dog's posture was very tense. Which is a sign that he was stressed out
in the situation. The other thing the reporter did wrong was the way he
approached Barney. He approached very quickly, and from above. His hand
came downward from up high. And that can be very frightening for a dog,
especially a small one."
Cox Newspaper White House correspondent and veteran Bush watcher Ken
Herman shared the first of many jokes about the First Dog's attack on
Decker. "You know what Barney calls a presidential press conference? A
buffet."

Loote, look at what you've done to yourself, my friend.
You must be totally elated over the victory, you are changing your ways, my friend. : )
And before we expect just a little too much from the administration that follows, lets give to as much as we want it to give back to us. That means, more time to your daily chores with extra diligence and super productivity! LOL

Cappy, I think it was the Senator (?) from Georgia. Still can't recall his name, but I believe he's the one with the huge, bulging lips, with a bald head.
