Kantipur Report
member of Unified CPN (Maoist) Matrika Prasad Yadav on Tuesday said he
would reconstitute CPN (Maoist) party as the Maoist leadership had
sidelined revolutionaries and brought in 'opportunists' into the party.
“I
am the only one of the former 35-member central committee at the
moment, and I will announce the formation of CPN (Maoist) tomorrow,â€
said Yadav. “The rest of the structure will follow after the
developments.â€
Wednesday
is the eve of the 14th anniversary of People’s War the Maoists fought
against the state till 2006. The CPN (Maoist) merged with CPN-Ekata
Kendra (Masal) on Jan. 13 and became Unified CPN (Maoist).
On
Sep. 19, 2008, Yadav resigned as Minister for Land Reform and
Management accusing the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum and CPN (UML) of
being anti-people parties. He refused to apologise for his unruly
behaviour in recapturing land in Siraha district by marshalling his
cadres even after police freed the land from Maoist cadres. The Maoist
Central committee had demanded he apologise for the act. Instead he
quit his ministerial post.
“The
Chief of Army Staff does not listen to the Defence Ministry and the
same is happening in other places as well," said Yadav. "Corruption is
everywhere — be it in political appointments or anywhere — Maoists
should have stopped that."
“I
feel I need to reconstitute a party in order to make the
people-oriented revolution a success,†said Yadav. “The party was
earlier the most democratic one, but it is now only in name, not in
practice.â€
Yadav
expressed dissatisfaction over the Maoist leadership’s negligence of
the Madhesh issues. “I drafted a complete report on what the party’s
stance should be on the Madhesh issue, but the party chairman did not
pay heed to it.â€
Party
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had said on Jan. 30, at a discussion to
formulate a party policy on 'Madhesh issue’ that the party had no
intention of taking action against politburo member Matrika Yadav, who
had announced on Jan. 11, he would form a separate party.
Dahal had said efforts were on to bring him within the party fold.
