My consultancy is letting me go.....so I need to get on to F1 to maintain my status. Any university where I can take courses online on data warehousing? How about Kaplan? Need suggestions about changing to F1 soon. It's either this or go back to Nepal! Can I get my H1 stamped in Nepal and come back when the job market is a little better? How many months can I stay in Nepal on my H1?

join kaplan university for GRE Course and they will extend your I-20 for a year once you make the payment. easy, life saving and money saving. there are some consultancies they will extend your h1 for 2 years but u have to sign a contract.

I am in the same situation brother. I have my H1 but my consultancy wants me to go. So i do not know whether to transfer my H1 to another company or change to F1 by joining school. H1 transfer is very risky to get approved in this worst job market crisis & companies are not interested either now. I'll appreciate your suggestions on this issue, which I am sure is common to many nepalese out there.. Thanks!!!

You can still join school while in H1 by showing h1 papers. As far as I know changing status from H1 to f1 is not easy . you have to file change of status to USCIS which takes 4-6 months. They will verify if you have been maintaining your h1 status properly or not. If you get rejected you'll get a notice to leave the country within 30 days. more info on www.murthy.com

My consultancy is suggesting me to take some technical classes in the meantime and become F1. They said my F1 can be changed to H1 within one year with premium processing (my case will not be in H1 lottery) and that they will do it once the market gets better with more job openings. Is that possible?

Hi I'm on the same boat, and has been told by my employer either go to F1 or Nepal. I don't have any choice. And through some other threads came to know also, it is too risky to go back to F1, and again H1. So unable to figure out what to do? Is there any suggestions? Please.......................

Thanks "dipulata"! I appreciate yr good / succint infos... And "Blyton", I've just seen yr message... Well I hv not yet decided coz i hv realized that going to F1 from H1B is not so easy since one has to show proof of maintaining H1B status in terms of few recent paystubs and also it'll take atleast 6 months for USCIS/INS to notify if own's H1B-to-F1 case is approved or not. If not approved, as "dipulata" has said, one's to leave USA in 1 month... So I'm not sure of any solutions yet!!!
