Depends on your requirement. If you do not work on multimedia, you do not need higher configuration on laptops. Still get at least 1GM RAM, 160-250 GB hard disk, wireless g or n network, integrated webcam. For normal use, best buy has best deals on laptops. Based on my experiences, HP, Sony, Toshiba are good. Do not go for Dell, acer, compaq or gateway.

Id stick with HP. They got good cheap laptops. I got mine: 4 gigs ram, 2.0 intel core 2 duo, 250 gigs hdd, 14" for just $650. The only downside is battery isnt as efficient as the other higher priced ones. Everything else is awesome! I especially love the keyboard :D

In my experience: Dell will be best rather than Toshiba & HP (Least prefer-worst customer services). Nowadays, Dell also offer competitive prices.

My honest advice: Never buy HP.. IT has overheating problem... and lot of problem starts after using for about 1 year.. usb port malfunction, soundcard etc...I am saying this from my own experience.

ssp, rangeenchara.com is providing a service called ShoppingSherpa that helps you find best products at best price! Someone above said that they got 4 gigs ram, 2.0 intel core 2 duo, 250 gigs hdd, 14" for just $650 but you can get better configuration for cheaper than that! Send us more details in an e-mail (you can find e-mail address in rangeenchara.com) like how much you want to spend and we will find a best deal for you.
