Contempt of court charge against six Maoist leaders
including PM
A contempt of court case has been filed against six maoist leaders including
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal for instigating protests against the Supreme
Court.
A Dang based journalist Murari Raj Sharma filed a writ petition at the SC on
Wednesday against PM Dahal, finance minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai, maoist
secretariat member Narayan Kaji Shrestha and maoist CA members Shalik Ram Jammar
Kattel, Chandra Bahadur Thapa and Ekraj Bhandari.
Sharma has accused the maoist leaders of undermining the court by organising
rallies and meetings and expressing remarks against the stay order on the
government’s decision to pension off army generals.
SC had issued a stay order to the government and the army headquarters on
March 24 not to implement the decision to pension off the army generals.
The next day the government filed a writ petition urging the SC to vacate
such stay order.
Maoist leaders had been criticising SC for issuing the stay order and some
cadres also staged protests and burnt effigy of the justice involved.
Meanwhile, the hearing on the writ petition filed by the government to vacate
the stay order has been postponed for April 19. nepalnews.com Apr 08
