My parents are flying from Delhi to NY. They will catch another flight to DC. If anybody has travelled this route what should they take note of. I will pick them at DC but I'm hoping it will not be trouble for them while trying to catch the connecting flight. How big is the NY airport and what should I tell them. Since they are elderly and might have some communication problem, I'm little concerned. Please help.

How long is their transit in NY? They need to go through immigration clearance in NY and depending on kind of visa they are holding it might take 1-2 hrs. (may be) to go through it. so make sure they have enough transit time in NY before their next flight. Other thing is NY airport is a Giant so if the communication is problem ask them to ask for help with other nepali or Indian people.

You could also request wheer chair service for them. It's free and very convenient for elderly people who can't communicate well. Airline staff take care of everything including connecting flights and departure gates.

If I were you, I will ask for a wheel chair service as indicated by HL. That will make their life much easier.

Good luck and enjoy the time with parents!

You could have arranged to receive them in NYC airport instead of having to go through boarding in and out again for another flight to DC. Then they could travel with you to DC by car or bus easily with no or little cost.

If you are in DC, or were planning to pick up in DC, then I also think it's a better idea to go pick them  up in NY. It's not that far anyway.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. While the idea of wheelchair is good, they are in good health and do not need the service and I can't have them fake it. Thanks for notifying me the transit time in NY due to passing through immigration. I will tell them about it. I will shout out for help once they confirm their travel, I could have gone to NY but it's like 4 hrs drive and they were not uncomfortable to do domestic travel so I have a little confidence in them though they haven't travelled, at least I have confident that they can find their way.
