hi guys, So i'm currently stuck in ktm with "administrative processing" while waiting for the US consulate to send me an update on my case. I came for a short visit thinking that i would not face too many issues since i had all documentation and legit employer. My interview date was May 8th, 2009 for H1B stamping (F1-OPT-H1B). Interview went pretty well and i had all documents and my employer is not consultancy. However at the end of the interview, VO said he was sorry and that my case needed administrative processing and that he could not do anything until this processing was complete. So i called NVC a week later and was told that my case required PIMS check as well as administrative processing. PIMS check was completed but now administrative processing was still pending and was told that embassy would call as soon as there was an update. I've called several times since then including having the local congressmans office contact DOS, but all they are told is "Still Pending". It's been a little over a month now and after looking over so many forum posting on google, it seems average wait times seem to be 60-90 days and some cases more than that. I don't fall under TAL so i'm guessing my case is related to name check which happens to be a very common muslim name. I'm wondering if anyone else is stuck with administrative processing in KTM or those of you that were stuck and got your visas approved, how long did it take for you to get your cases resolved? Thanks

Yesai, i don't think you should be worried if you have legitimate employer and all work documents and as long as you don't fall under TAL http://www.scribd.com/doc/13222616/Petition-US-Visa-Delays-due-to-221g-TAL-Administrative-Processing and as long as your name is standard nepali name. However, after my experience, i'm only going to come back with advance parole or multiple entry still valid. I think i would have gotten the visa without delays had it not been for my muslim name. I'll update this thread based on my progress.

okay.. i have heard so many things about people getting stucked in KTM for the h1-b stamping. I have also heard that if its a legit company then it shouldn't be a problem - which is good. i know couple of guys who actually got stucked for 3 months until they finally got their stamping. Its scary that even they come back.. their employer would take them in. as for me.. i am planning to visit home sometime this year. I work in an American company (not from consultancy). saving all my PTO and everything, all i get is 3-4 weeks time. I was wondering if that would be enough to get all the process done in KTM. I know there are might be lots of variables.. and cannot say for sure that would be enough.. with all these cases about getting delayed.. But what you guys think... is it worth taking a risk? or may be i should pospond until sometime next year...

Hi I got H1B stamping after 6 months of administrative processing at Kathmandu. I got stamping on 24th March, 2009. But I am still at Kathmandu since the sponsoring dhoti company doesn't want me to go US at this time since the market is not good right now. They told me to hang over here and eat Pani-puri until they find me job. And I am doing the same here. Will anyone show me the right way ? Thanks in advance.
