ANA Wants 70% of the profit from ANA Boston. They have not provided anything for the ANA Boston like Logistics, Infrastructure, Support, or Man Power. Bostonians have had to scramble from SCRATCH for EVERYTHING and yet they want to rake in 70% of the Blood, Sweat and Tears of our fellow Bostonian Nepalis. They are running this organization like a Sweat Shop.

THIS IS WRONG !!! I do not want ANA Boston to fail at the same time cannot stand ANA EXECS. memebers acting like our Typical Nepali Politicians. THIS IS BULL SHIT.  I hope PEOPLE ATTENDING THIS EVENT QUESTION AND GRILL ANA PEOLE ON THIS AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH OUR MONEY.

You are absolutely right. Boycott ANA, they have done nothing to help Nepalesein Nepal or anywhere else apart from trying to profit out of this annual ritual which the ANA execs don't even help organize. It's all upto the city organizers who do all the work and ANA reaps the benefit. Kaam garney Kalu makai khane Bha Loo.

Bro if people boycott than it will be like KaliDas story, sitting on same branch cutting the same branch...
change in attitude is what we need... dont' boycott but voice your opinion ni...
make plakes and posters and post it around what the heck.... if you runaway from the problem, it won't get solved...
I agree 70/30 is not fair.. I have been saying 50/50 is would be a better deal... nobody loses.. ANA will get money to whatever they need it for and GBNC, BANA, NANC etc these organization will also get money to run their organization in their respective cities... I know GBNC needs money too cause they have put so much effort on this convention, but there would be no convention without ANA... both parties need both parties, they should work as partners not slave and master...
Bro you are just experiencing this cause ANA is coming to ur town, think about all those other ANA's that took place in the past... they all felt the same burden you guy's are facing..
We need change in ANA attitude against hosting cities and organization's...

Before you say boycott ana you have to get your objectives clear.

Do you mean boycott the organization called the ANA or boycott the convention? There is a huge difference between boycotting the organization ANA and boycotting the convention.

The convention is mainly supported by a hosting city and hundreds of volunteers who  work night and day to make the convention happen. It's not some money hungry people or power hungry people that the convention is about. The convention is about normal people from the hosting city who want to be a good host to other compatriots from all over the US. Although the details of the convention such as percentage distribution is sort of convoluted, the convention is more about the volunteers who work night and day to make such a large scale event happen. It's not a joke to have over 60 sports team participate on a voluntary basis and to have the whole event organized on voluntary basis.

If you say boycott the convention you're mostly misinformed about the whole deal. If you say boycott the ana, it is understandable but the city based organization has already taken the responsibility and I think everyone should help to make it a success instead of badmouthing it from afar without even getting involved. I don't see anything good about badmouthing volunteers. Do you?

Obviously since there is a lot of money involved people will be cynical but people will not be willing to understand that there is costs involved and it's not cheap to rent a basketball court or a hotel hall in addition to many small details that needs to be purchased. On top of that most cynical people believe that few people actually pocket the money which cannot really happen because everything is accounted for and any money that is made goes to the organization's account from where they plan future activities which can be for the local community or for some other cause.

anyways don't hate the players, hate the game

Why this matter is surfacing now? Should this not be negotiated in the beginning ?

If the organizers do not mind 70-30, then who are you to complaint? Sajha is not a place for such matters !

ANA is nothing but a big waste of time and money.  I was at ANA Baltimore couple of years ago and it was big waste of my money (it is expensive if you add up all the fee) and my nice 4th of july weekend.  Here is how it went:

-I paid some registration fee online and found out that it was not even neede there.  It was $48(24 *2) gone for nothing.

-My college frat parties were lot better than the DJ party they had which was around $30/person

-Their fashion show kinda remind me of old Nepali proverb “hagnea lai banda dekhenea lai laaj”

-Soccer match was 50 minutes far from hotel which was not worth the drive.

-Concert…What concert, it was over before it started because of some technical difficulty they had.  Ofcourse we didn’t get our $28 refund, neither anyof the organiger offer any apology.

-And the attitude of people there was just something.  Most guys were drunk and in mood to fight and most girls were just happy to show some skins and hoping someone might actually look them.

I think I spend around $700 that weeknd at ANA which could have been gone for better cause in Nepal.  So Yes I support this ANA boycott, no more ANA for me.

Attending ANA programs is waste of money. i have attened 3 ANA at different locations and it doesn't make sense for me anyore to attend their paid programs coz it's same every year and they are way overpriced.  It would be beneficial if people attend free forums and interact/socialize with different groups and give/get ideas. Enjoy summer in Boston and drink good Bostonian beers.

this is freaking hilarious. boycott ANA why? because boston only gets to keep in 30% of the profit? hahaha dude it's PROFIT. just keep it and shut up.

if you want to bitch about beantown nepalis putting in countless volunteer hours for the event, then start paying people and there will be no profit for ANA. or better yet hire one of those event management company.

aint nobody told boston that they had to host the event.

I agree with Daddyz here

Johnny I agree with you, it was disfunctional,,, the guy who did the sound system tool 30,000.00 dollars
the sound he provided so crappy, my system in my basement is better than what he gave for that much money..... I hope Boston has professional sound system this year and no Nepali is bringing his stuff to concert or dj night...what does a realtor know about sound system????

people want to Host ANA in their cities because they benefit from it and some people make thousands of dollars... they show all kinds of expenses which is bogus......

Don't Boycott ANA come to ANA but voice your opinion.....

Boycotting wont help anyone, if we boycott GNBC will suffer... but still some people will make a lot of money, I am against that, young people volunteer for pride, some people make money in the name of social service...

no matter what you all say, and what I say, I will still go and spend my july 4th and spend my money in boston and eat nepali food from stalls and come back to my house....
I don't like what THEY do but I like who work hard for it, I go to support those young people and I never forget to thank them.... it's their summer and time they are giving up for you...

CHOR, that's the thing. you keep buying/doing/eating stuff even though you think it needs improvement and they keep selling/managing/making the same way because it got sold out last year because of people like you who bought it.

there you go, continuous loop to the infinity.

if you need improvement, you need to stand up/protest/boycott. tell me if there are other ways.

I am with Bathroom Coffee on this one maybe not for the same reasons. Every year people go there and spend their money, hard earned or easy, knowing full well that they won't be getting their money's worth. And then bitching ANA this, ANA that. STFU. If you don't like it, why do you keep going back? You are the idiot who is going there year after year after year and for what? To bitch about it? Either go have fun and don't complain or don't go. Complaining hasn't changed ANA yet. Boycotting is the next step.

My question to you guys who want to boycott ANA Boston because you didn't feel that ANA is doing something for Nepalese students or workers is that what you guys have done for ANA or for Nepalese people? If you think ANA management is not productive and just selling and buying things then why don't you guys take charge of it? If you are not interested then don't show any interest. Live you own life. You don't have to boycott, just be quiet. If you think you have good work plan then go to the front and do something. It is always easy to blame others. I don't think pepole in the ANA management have all the responsibilities for the welfare of Nepalese people unless you guys also involved  and pushed them ahead. I agreed with Chor and others who say that we need to raise our voice, we need to get involved if we want ANA to be productive for us.
